BTW have you considered getting OEM BMW mesh wheels? The wheels on it now look great, don't get me wrong, but I think original BMW wheels would flow with the classic style of the car better.

Oh, and centre-mounted exhausts FTW
Well I have been looking at getting a set of BBS Style 5's, not sure if I want to play it safe and stay with a 16" or sacrifice a little ride for style and go with a 17" rim with a low offset. If you go back up near the top of the thread and check out the Black E28 I posted, that's kind of the stance I'm shooting for. Granted those HRE's on there are ridiculous in size and offsets are nuts and I wouldn't go that crazy, but that stance is really what I want. BUT, the way it sits now has really grown on me and all of the plans I had for it initially may be changing.

I agree, the center-mounted exhaust is super sweet!

Good to hear that, any bigger with the diameter and it would really start to ride and handle like

I say stick with 16s, the suspension was engineered for higher aspect ratio tires than we have today. Style 5s would be perfect of course.

No it's not Perris. Its the San Luis Reservoir on the 152 highway (connects the 5fwy to the 101fwy) that cuts through Gilroy, I always go this route when I go up North and stopping by Casa de Fruta is must.

I just may change the wheels and use the brand new tires, why not you know? It does have Bilstein shocks and Eibach lowering springs so maybe the ride won't be as bad as stock suspension. Also, I've considered buying a Ground Control Coilover kit for it (not the stock/GC modification but rather a full suspension set up built by Ground Control that controls height adjustment, damper, and Camber). I'm conflicted because I would sacrifice a little ride comfortbility for appearance, we'll see what happens.

Glad to be an inspiration! Hehe! All I can say is hold out for the one you want, don't settle for something that you kind of want, you'll regret it in the end, you know what I mean? Where have you been looking to buy one? Autotrader? Craigslist?

Thanks!

About 7 years ago, two of my friends had 2002's, let me tell you, that car was so much fun to drive and to be driven in; lots of fun. I really liked them but I was to immersed into the Honda scene to get one . When I was searching for my car I did look at some 2002's and ones that were in good condition were major bucks, too much for me right now.

Mostly CL, Autotrader doesn't have much, although I do browse through it daily. The white one is the one I really want. I'd rather have the 318 over 325 because they're easier/cheaper to work on, also IMO more fun to drive because you can wind it out more. I've had a 84 318, 86 325 and a 93 325 e30 convertible.

I would have kept the 93 but I had no room to park it

I'm still waiting on a response on the white one, maybe he doesn't want to sell it.

That particular year 318 is really a neat car with the old e30 body style with the newer m42 which is lighter and more powerful than the old m10. A friend of mine bought a mint one two years ago and I'm kinda envious.

When you're on Autotrader are you searching the whole country or just in your general area? Every time I was looking for an E28 on AT the pickings were real slim, even when I searched the whole country maybe eight were being sold. I searched all around the world on CL and few good ones popped up but they were just too far from me . I did however have two really nice ones that were local to CA that I couldn't get into in time. But it actually worked out for the best because those cars were at least $1000-$1500 more than what I spent on mine. Plus those other two cars had way more miles on them than my car, I believe one had 210,000 miles and the other had 250,000 miles and they cost more, so I got a good deal. Good luck on your search!!
