I'm currently testing Supertech Engine Oil!
Actually, I'm not running it. I'm having my friend run it in his 2002 Mazda Protege.
Setup:
2002 Mazda Protege 5MT
55,440 miles on the car.
Central Texas climate, trips are generally at least 10 miles in length
3.5 qt Sump Capacity
Oil Information:
Supertech 10w-30 Conventional Oil.
API SM/ILSAC GF-4
Purchased in a 5qt jug, oil was produced by WPP.
Mazda OEM Oil Filter
My friend recently purchased this car as a replacement for his previous car. The previous maintenance history is unknown, but the Exxon Superflo 10w-30 API SM that was in use for just over 1000 miles prior to this Supertech fill turned brown, so that doesn't tell us much.
The oil will be in use for 5000 miles, which shouldn't take more than 2 months. An oil analysis will be performed. If the engine is indeed dirty, it'll further stress the Supertech oil and will allow us to see its abilities under stressed conditions.
BTW, oil was $5.50 for a 5qt jug, not bad for a GrpII API SM dino.

Used to be around $4.50/5qts prior to the launch of API SM spec...shows how much API SM caused the price to increase, mainly due to better basestocks and additional FMs.
Again, it isn't my car...but we have Trop Artic 10w-30 Blend on the list for next time. Those new Phillip-Conocco oils (Motorcraft, Kendall, 76, Trop Artic) are a REALLY good bang for the buck. (around $1.50/qt)
