if you were to sell your current car and get a new one...

what would it be and why? and no i'm not looking for 100k+ cars..well i shouldn't say that, i almost got a 6 series convertible, but then again the deal i found was amazing..and i'm stupid for not taking it. it was 2k down, 800 a month for a 08 brand new 650..

i'd be willing to do something like that..

what are your suggestions?

GreenMonster 02-27-2009 05:54 PM

If I got rid of the CL, and had to buy something in the next month or 2, I'd probably get one of the following:

Honda Accord EX V6 Coupe
Hyundai Gen Coupe Track or R-spec 2.0T
Used 3G TL or 2G RL ??

Love to see what the CRZ is going to be like in production form...

mattg 02-27-2009 05:55 PM

I wouldn't want an $800 month car payment. I don't live in Beverly Hills though. ;)

 It's in car talk 'cause you're talking about cars... Heck, you've got the word CAR right there in the thread title...

nokiaman 02-27-2009 05:57 PM

If you were looking at a 650i, I remember a member on 6speed posting about an M6 lease I think that was pretty similar to that deal...and it was in SoCal...But for that, I would look into a newer Audi or Bimmer.

$800/month for that is a terrible deal regardless of where you live.
...This does give me an idea though...
I've always wanted a Ferrari and if I were to sell my house and move back in with ma and pa, I could get a new one...straight cash homie!

Moog-Type-S 02-27-2009 06:19 PM

I don't think it was meant as an insult-- Sarlacc is factually correct [per OP's last post above this one], and that might be a consideration as to which car to get.

Oh, and I have no idea what I'd want, other than it is likely in the entry luxo-sport sedan or coupe class (for $$ and compact size) and has average or better reliability. :tomato:

Its persian culture. Much like Indian...you just live at home til you get married.

It was HUGE that my wife bought her condo and moved out prior to getting married. Her parents wanted her to stay. Same with her sister who decided to live off campus during college...and now lives in San Fran for grad school. They LOVE it when they are both home.

We went to a family friends wedding a few weeks after ours...the dude is a doctor in his 30s and lived at home until his wedding...he had even bought a house prior to that.

mreh 02-27-2009 06:26 PM

the only car I really love as much as my G coupe right now are the S5's

I got that....still why?

I know culture etc blah blah blah....but that's got to put a big buzz-kill on the dating scene....
"Hey lets go back to my place....errr...nevermind."

"Where do you live?" "I live with my parents." :what:

I guess if you date within your own "ehnic group" it works....if not....:whyme:

For ladies....understandable perhaps...for guys....not so much

Sarlacc 02-27-2009 06:30 PM

ugh, im getting glitches from AZ...now I cant quote moog...

Anyway, yeah most date or marry within their own culture so its a known thing.

Those that dont or care, move out. That simple.

And I'm not disagreeing with your either...There are a lot of things I dont get or agree with...and it ALWAYS make me the asshole when I say something....

AS3.0CL 02-27-2009 07:25 PM

IS350-- More power
possibly IS-F with the ridiculous discounts they have on them right now for 08 models.

i love my lexus, even more now that it's almost done being modded.

car payment though...? :ugh: hate paying

mitch14 02-27-2009 08:23 PM

infiniti M, but their depreciation is crazy.
that's why i am looking at used ones:biggrin:

'01White3.2CL 02-27-2009 09:14 PM

997 Carrera 4s...in white.

AWD and 355HP and only 3150lbs...a well balanced car, and you definitely need the AWD in Chicago at least...

thats what I'd get...Maybe in Cali, a GT3?? im guessing more than $800/month for that tho

Vovlo C30 - I've always like it. More unique than a GTI/rabbit
used S2k - should be fun? not sure it's practical enough as my only car though
miata - thinking of buying a early 90's model as a fun 2nd car. Not sure I want to deal w/ the extra insurance, maintenance, etc.

a little more unrealistic for me, but in a few years, I might be more looking for something around this range.

328 coupe - I think the best looking bimmer. I don't drive fast enough to need a 335.
Evo X - Maybe i'll have a late 20's crisis, and want to be a boy racer while still kinda young.
G8 GT - Maybe i'll go horsepower crazy.....

My first step would be looking at something with a proper working transmission.

Nissan GT-R Spec V
BMW M3
Toyota Supra TT
Porshe GT2
Mercedes G500 Wagon
Audi RS6
Lotus Exige S260

In no particular order.

Dude, you're Persian???? All this time I thought you were some redneck motherfcker (no offense).

Back to the topic, If I sold my:

NSX: probably another NSX (maybe a different color and a 2005).
Versa: maybe a civic hatch or fit
RL: maybe an S8 or 7 series

subinf 02-27-2009 11:29 PM

Not sure. I'm really into the new Audis. Probably an S4.

JLTSX07 02-27-2009 11:43 PM

Well, I lived at home until I was 26, LOL. It took me awhile to do the whole college, and then grad school thing. Once I got my Master's Degree I was able to obtain a decent job and move out, but with the economy the way it is, I can see why most people are living at home longer these days. :tomato:

what are your suggestions?

Used BMW 760LI (pref. 06-07) you can nab them for about 55K + TTL with around 30K, clean title. You get the nice buttery smooth V12 with 440 HP under the hood and tons of torque. You'd put yourself in a BMW with the free Maintenance, something really nice (top of the line, literally) and also be under your budget.

Crazy Bimmer 02-28-2009 12:01 AM

If you want a manual, you can find a new 08 M3 sedan for almost 10k off sticker with ridiculous lease rates. People been reporting they paying under $800 a month on them. Seen some in the 700s with little down.
