What would it be?
Just say that you were looking for another car, and you had that amount to play with, what would you be looking at?
I only have 2 guidelines: Must be standard and must be newer than 1998.
PS. Yes, this is a suggestion thread...

As soon as I saw the ad I thought it would be a pretty cool car...

Passats are another story though, from my understanding. While not up to Honda standards, they are fairly reliable (at least far more reliable than Jettas or Golfs).
How about a Saab 9-5? I believe you could pick up a 1999-2001 or 2002.

Good info, good info...
Ok, I will just keep posting up cars as I come across them, let me know if you have anything to add...
2000-2002 Accord Coupe, 4 cylinder, 5 speed... How about them? The V6 coupes were not available in 5 speed unfortunately...

$10,000 is the limit, and $8000 is impossible, but you may be able to find an LS1 F-Body. Expect a couple dings here and there but you can find a mint condition car.
Or a 99-00 Civic Si (though may be hard to find a nice one), also pushing it but you may be able to find a 00+ Celica GTS.

Forgot to add, you could also find a nice 99+ Mustang GT.... though it seems that you prefer import/Euro cars. I too was looking to get a GSR, Civic Si, 00-02 Accord coupe, GTI, Maxima.... so similar its almost eerie. I've been converted though...

This would be a year round car, and I would be commuting to a city where it's not uncommon for it to snow a foot in the middle of the day, on that note, the F-Body I couldn't even consider...
Civic, again, a safe bet if all else fails...

And since you're in Canada, howabout an 1.7EL or is that too cramped...?

I'd say, avoid any B5 Audi A4s, based on my own experiences. I used to own a 98 A4 1.8T and what a great ride if it didn't have a variety of problems. B5 A4s would usually have bad water pumps, control arms (I had to have them replaced like 5 times) and the list goes on. Maybe a 2000 Accord would be a safe bet?

If I was getting an all year vehicle, I had no issues with my 97 a4 2.8 quattro.
But i would definitely stay away from civic si, integra gsr, just because they are so commonly stolen its a pain in the ass.
i think i would get an A6

Well, forget the fact that I even made this thread.
I decided to just drive my Golf until the Spring and start looking at a new car then... Doesn't really make sence to me to buy a newer car right before winter, may as well drive my trusty winter beater through the winter...

I know it's not in my price bracket right now, but does anybody have any experience with 04 or 05 Subaru WRX's? If I were to consider a WRX it would mean getting rid of both my Taurus and my Golf (was already ready to sell the Golf when I bought a newer car)...
I think the Subaru would fit me well, it has something other than FWD, and its a sexy car...

WRXs can definitely be had in that range, my friend used to have a bugeye (01-03) but he noted that they had glass trannies. The MT case was susceptible to flex, which would warp/break the gears inside, especially on WRXs that were making much more power than stock. However, 04+ are great, they're so good, he went out and got an 04 STi. The car he owned before that was a 98+ GSR coupe.
WRXs are great values, plus I'm sure the AWD would be helpful in Canadia.
