I'm surprised you didn't notice it sooner ... I'd imagine it would have been making a lot of noise no?

Either way, I'm glad you spotted it!

I think I noticed it the day before. But it definitely wasn't making a sound that pointed to it sheering completely off 😂

Got to take the princess to the father daughter dance friday night........should have seen the other dads as we rolled in, lol

Didn't like the first set of handles. Felt the Shaka got lost in all the work done. So having a different guy do another set. Been waiting 3 months and he's finally getting around to it.

So will these be less intricate looking overall or just leaving a bigger spacing around it to make it stand out more?

The answer is yes to both. Less intricate, and the hands stand out. Here's final product (got sent out to chrome yesterday)

So, finally got that hole in the frame patched up. Had a local guy do it, he was way out of the league for this job (he builds $300K+ cars in his garage, lol) but he was excited to take on the work as he dug the car and we had a good mutual friend.

Did new bags on all 4 corners, new shocks in the front (shorter) and completely changed the geometry of how the old owner set them up. I also told him to just handle anything else that popped up. Both motor mounts were in pieces, the rear end's wishbone bushing had serious play, as well as the wishbone didn't have a locking nut, so this explains the violent vibration when i'd get about 70. Fixed two major header leaks (kind of bummed, thing is silent now). Got rid of all the old copper airbag lines and ran new lines through the frame.

All in all, it's like a brand new car so far. The new bags have a lot more travel, they only go down about .5" more then the old ones, but they go up another 4" roughly (Can finally clean those white walls better, lol)

He's got an old blazer on a c5 chassis that's been dominating the local autocross's

Next time you're taking pictures, can you get one of it lifted up all highwater style? Curious how that looks.

With all that repaired in the suspension I bet it rides like a completely different car. Cool knowing someone that builds cars of that value was doing the work on your ride. Means the attention to detail on your ride is 150%.

Yea, and he's the reason the impala exists in my life. About a year ago I had planned on completely redoing my '55. Sat with him for a few hours, we had spec'd out a whole new chassis (we've got a mutual friend that's a big chassis builder.... www.artmorrison.com) and all.....and at the end he looked at me and said, look i'll do this work in a heart beat.....but it runs good, drives fine......keep it as is and buy another car......

But yea, he does little day jobs as well as usually has 1-2 long term projects he's working on. Dudes solid, worked for Moal Coachbuilders for 9 years out of high school. Car drives completely differently, only one thing that popped up once i got it home is that the lower control arm bushings squeek like a mother fucker.
