so, have dumped some money into the car.
- All new shocks all around. Did QA1 single adjustables
- 108 amp alternator (thing was spiking all over the place with all the accessories)
- Basically rebuilt rear end
- Axle Seals were all leaking
- Wheel Cylnders were all leaking
- New Diff Seals
- U-joint / Carrier bearing drive shaft
Car drives so much smooother now

Everyone's been telling me I'm crazy for this one. But I like variety. I'm still super jealous of your 993

Yeah man that is one hell of a garage for sure. I love how it doesn't focus one particular area too much. You have two older rides but hey are so different from each other.

Still loving this thing. May be my favorite currently. Driving the piss out of it. Probably put close to 1,000 miles on it in the last 30 days. Took off the horrible bias ply tires on the wires. Now have learned wire wheels need tubes so I've got it back on stock wheels till I get around to throwing tubes in the tires.

I need to drop an overdrive trans in this thing. With the tire size and the 2 speed powerglide, i turn like 3500 RPM at 65 mph, i have no clue what redline is on these things, but it's SCREAMING at freeway speed. Trying to decide what to do, i think i'll drop a 700R4 in it, only needs a little modification to fit......but then the big question is.....do I say fuck it and drop in a new motor........and then really say fuck it and drop in an LS.....

I mean you came here to ask a question that I feel you already know what everyone is going to say. I vote for bigger motor for sure. The biggest question is do you do a bigger period correct motor or go something crazy modern and maybe put in a supercharged engine from say like a CTSV/ZL1?

350/700r4 would be a good combination for a boulevard cruiser.

Your not thinking outside the box enough. You need to do full tubs in the rear for some larger rears so traction won't be an issue

My vote is ... figure out an overdrive solution and keep motor as-is.
Put $ into the 996 since that's the machine that does speed best.

But yea, i think you're on to something. Impala is never meant to be fast...it's a cruiser.
Maybe a blower on the tundra (or man up and buy a raptor)

there's not much left to do to it really. Things putting down over 700/700 on pump. I do need to pull the transmission out of the 996 and have it rebuilt as it pops out of second gear sometimes; but that's a $10K expense i'm avoiding, lol
