Thumbs up I want the New Mercedes C300 Sport

I just saw an ad for the 2008 Mercedes C300 Sport. I haven't been as excited about the looks of any car other than my 04 TL and maybe the IS350. Now I'm looking forward to getting my kids through college so that I can start saving for my first Mercedes.

The C300 Sport isn't really all that expensive, if you can pull off an 04 TL.....you can pull off a C300 Sport.

Its definately a nice car, but the fact that they do not offer a manual I would go with 335

Actually, you can get a manual, but only with the 3.0 not the 3.5 -- very strange. Kinda like Lexus only offering a 6MT in the IS250, but not the 350.

Those who opt for the C300 get to choose between a standard six-speed manual or an optional seven-speed automatic (which the company is estimating that most will opt for), but the C350 can only be had with the automatic.

i agree with Lotus: I'd go with the 335.
HOWEVER i'd wait about a year or 2. their having overheating issues. I was at BMW dealership last week my g/f was looking at a new X5 diesel and asking questions. I was asking him if their been any issues with the new 3 series. he said not really other than the 335 overheating when you "push it."

I saw one on the road the other day, but it was come on the on-ramp and I zipped right by it... so I didn't really get a good look at it.

so the C300 is about the same price as the 335? If so, I'd go with the 335..m

C300 is supposed to compete with the 328i

The C350 is the 335i competitor, although it's far behind power wise. It only has 268hp and 258tq vs BMW's 300/300, IS350's and G35's 306.

I actually went to the C spot party here in socal on sunday for the 2008 Debut. The car looked REALLY great with the sport package...luxury package was dull...then again im still young.

My brother had driven the C350 on their test track and on the streets....power wise feels VERY similiar to my Base TL Auto. However the spec sheet said it runs 0-60 in 6.1sec, it might be possible since it does have a 6spd? or ws it 7spd auto which means better gearing.

There were also C300 Sports...they looked extremely good as well. 228hp i beleive, not bad, who needs all that power anyways lol? This is the first Benz that actually caught my attention as well, very nicely designed, too bad no LED tails

Normally, I'd agree with you. But let's withhold judgement until a test drive - the new C is getting some impressive reviews.

Let's be honest, if we could have a F/R Acura sedan in mid 30's with 6MT or 7AT -- lot's of us would be tripping over ourselves to get to a local dealer.

I happen to prefer the styling of the new C over the 3.

C300 > 328i
335i > C350 (although I think the C sedan looks better than the E90)
C63 > M3

I was at that also. Annoying that they only let you drive around 1/2 a block. I was hoping they'd have a course setup like Lexus did last week in Alameda.

Drove the C300. Pretty solid car. I thought it looked pretty good. Couldn't tell much on the test drive since we didn't go above 30 mph. Looks much better than the current C class. Rear seat space has improved also. I'd at least consider it if looking for a luxury sedan in that price range. Had some cool features like sending navi directions to the car from the Internet.

C Class vs. 3 Series

I have always liked BMW style and design and know they are the best drivers' cars on the road. The problem is that I see them everywhere on the road nowadays. I like the distinct look of the new C Class, especially that giant 3 pointed star in the grill. I'm sure it will be a pain in the pocketbook to maintain, as would the 3 series. I'd opt for the 350, but am trying to be more conservative in order to shoot for early retirement. I'll have to give up some speed, but that's okay if I can substitute some style. The Flava Flav thought never crossed my mind. I just liked the in-your-face giant Mercedes star.

THe 3 sedan looks quite sporty but the C gives an elegant understated look.

I agree -- the 3-series has an ubiquitous look to it (everyone and their mom drives a 3-series ... at least in Toronto...)

However, the pain in the pocketbook ... isn't the first 3 years regular maintenance included in the 3-series? And the MB is expensive to maintain ... I looked at the bill my bro paid when he took his C32 AMG in ... it was ridiculous. Even taking the car in to swap to winter tires ... I said I would do it for half the cost in his garage with my floor jack & his tools from his spare tire kit.

I would think that the c350 would be less to maintain than the amg model.

The one I built was $44,835...about $5,000 less than the 335i I would get.

Not bad

I'm hoping competition will force MB to establish a regular maintenance plan by the time I get around to buying one in a couple of years. Its superficial but I'd like to own a German luxury car at least once in my life. Four of my first 5 cars were VWs. That's the only reason I can't bring myself to consider an Audi. A Cayman (despite its VW connection) would be fun, but not nearly as practical as the MB C300.

teleaid is "the" option to have because of its concierge service. We have in in our ML and it is great! The first day I got the car I was showing it off to my mother in law and I called them and they said "how can I welp you today and I said what is the closest gentlemans club from here. they said well that is double vision 3.2 miles away would you like turn by turn directions and if not your horoscope? Needless to say my mother in law got out of the car out of embarassment so that right there was worth the option.

Why settle for a C-class MBZ when you can get a better performance car like Acura or Infiniti?

Even though it looks better than before, but I won't do it ...
