i want a beater

i've been searching for a cheap used car for last few days. i want a cheap one under 3 grand. these two are the best i could find in my area, and i'm going to test drive them tomorrow.

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...ce=&cardist=32
1995 acura integra

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...ce=&cardist=24
1992 celica GT

well, which one should i get? or should i stay away from these? i love both. i always liked integra and early 90's celica. i've never bought a beater before, so please help me out.

The Integra has a bit more miles than I'd like for a beater, I know integ's are good for 200k+ but 150K miles are just a bit too much...... as much as it pains me to say Celica FTW.

They're both clean looking beaters. I'm partial to Honda/Acuras, so I'd say as long as you're not planning on putting on 20,000 miles a year, go for the Teg. Plus the Teg would dust the Celica. Those Celicas are dawgs.

i looked everywhere. there aren't much in here especially my price range. i really wanted a prelude, but couldn't find one for around 5grand. i don't even care if it is 4th gen, but even 4th gens are rediculously expensive!

If you wanted a 'teg, why not look at:

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...000&cardist=13

or

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...g=1&cardist=44

This one is an auto but "lower" miles (114k):

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...g=1&cardist=15

Have you tried craigslist?

You want a beater prelude look for a 3rd gen...they were best anyway. The model celica is actually very fun to drive, too.

found a red 2000 civic EX 2door with 61,000 miles on it from a local toyota dealer. a perfect condition, and drove like a new car. sticker price was $9450.00

how much would you guys pay for it? i think they are willing to negotiate. maybe $8500 OTD? i only have 3grand to spend so i don't mind financing it for about 2 years.

In my personal opinion, I would'nt finance. That seems like too much of a commitment just for a "beater"... Spend 2 or 3 grand now on a car and forget about payments and what not.

That's just my personal opinion, take it as you may

just found a silver 1992 honda prelude with 165k on it. mint condition, asking $2000.
not a private seller though, it's from a huge used car dealer.

anyway, too much mileage? only 2 grand, you know?

test drove that 165k prelude today. it was in a decent condition, but definitely needs exhaust. everything was good though. i went there and the sticker was $2985, but they are willing to give it to me for 2 grand. i said, i'll have to think about it.

frankly, i don't want it. i would've bought it in a heartbeat if it had around 140k.

i'm really getting tired of looking. maybe i should just go for it and buy that 2000 civic coupe for 8.5grand.
