Not having analyzed this in depth, I am surprised at what happens towards the high end.

How did the BMW keep pulling while the more powerful CTS-V didn't? Doesn't make sense.

i believe bullshit...

only excuse I could think of would be the gearing is in some way extremely favorable to the M5 at those speeds, but it looks like the guy got off the throttle on the CTS-V at the end...

lol, I just don't take Autocar seriously. They compared a 997 GT2 and a Z06 and later a ZR1 and the guy couldn't shift the Z06 for crap. In fact, he missed the 2-3 shift once.

He probably lifted.... if you look at the trap speed and the CTS-V is 7 mph slower despite having a ~50 bhp advantage in power and a huge advantage in torque. That INSTANTLY raises the

Cadillac advertised the CTS-V as going through the 1/4 mile marker at 12.8 seconds with a 118 mph trap speed. Shitty launch or not, you should get real close to that trap speed. As for the next gen CTS-V, I can't wait. I hope GM uses direct-injection in their next engine family. 500 horsepower and 30 mpg in a Corvette from the factory.... I expect no less. Wait until they slap a blower on top of that and put it in the next-gen CTS-V. And almost definitely will still be much cheaper than an M5.
