^ With the new ratings its close. its 197 hp fom 2 liters.

Costco...I tend to disagree about the torque thing. My dad's C5 feels a lot quicker than my Si.

My old S2000 felt a lot quicker than my Si.

Both of them are a lot quicker than my Si.

I guess my point is that while small differences my be hard to tell from the old butt dyno, its not hard to tell the difference between a 4 and an 8. Its also not hard to tell when a car is 600 lb lighter than another.

I'm on 8thcivic.com if that is what you are talking about. Same SN there too. I find myself back here all the time though. Although, the Si is not a fast car, it is exciting to drive and it does get great gas mileage (I drive a ton for work). Someone mentioned that the TL-S can do everything better than the Si. Although I don't know much about that car and I haven't driven one, I would put my Si up against it in the handling category. The Si is so light and tossable. Combine the weight with the LSD, my Michelin PS2s, and HFP suspension and I would guess it would give the TL-S a run more its money. My thoughts.

^ That guy was an idiot. I already mentioned how that extra 700 lb. of car just disappears when you are in the twisties.

I have to admit, the Si did handle extremely well. Almost as good as my miata.

I haven't driven a miata, but you should give the HFP suspension a try if you get the chance. There is a guy on 8thcivic.com that switched to HFP suspension and put down 1.06 g's on the skidpad with stock all-seasons (increase from 0.87 previously). Sounds a little crazy, but I'd be curious to see what difference my PS2s would have in combination with the HFP.

I may have to add that to my list of things to do to my car seeing as how I'm going to keep it well after it's been paid off.

Guys, quick question. Do you think we'll be able to get 200,000 miles out of this engine? I only wonder because it's such "high strung" motor. I take care of my car religiously and don't beat on it excessively.

For sure. I am at 39,000 right now with no problems whatsoever. The engine feels as if it would pull to 10,000. The high rpms shouldn't prevent the car from reaching 200 IMHO.

I guess my point is that while small differences my be hard to tell from the old butt dyno, its not hard to tell the difference between a 4 and an 8. Its also not hard to tell when a car is 600 lb lighter than another.
What I meant is that it feels much faster than it is, from the butt dyno. Imagine a car with 300 hp and 350 lb/ft with a broad torque curve and a redline at 5000 rpm. Compare that to a car with 400 hp and 200 lb/ft with the powerband way up top, with a redline at 8000 rpm. And lets just say those cars got similar 1/4 mile times. The acceleration of the car with 400 hp would gradually continue to increase, giving you the sensation of feeling faster than it actually is. I've found this to be very common in turbocharged cars. My friend's stock STi felt a lot faster than my Z28 though the gap wasn't that big.

Of course a C5 feels quicker than an Si, I never meant to imply it that way. There's a bunch of factors involved, but I would guess most people would "feel" that an S2000 is faster than a TL-S in a straight line despite both cars getting similar 1/4 mile times.

Its easy to notice the difference between a 4 and an 8. I notice the difference when someone sits in the passenger seat of my car, when I'm carrying a bunch of stuff in the trunk or back seat, etc. so maybe when I notice the difference between two cars as described above, I might exaggerate it more than others would think.

This is nothing new and nothing substantial. That 100 hp/liter still results in a 15 second 1/4 mile time. Uncommon or not, it doesn't impress me.

I have an 06 Si and I love it. I am at around 20k on it. OP you won't really get all that much better mileage from an Si but do whatever u want.
