bought a nice alpine head unit and ordering some better head rest speakers. the previous owner set up a stereo without using the proper crossover and blew them.

Also looking into ways to mount a sub. my favorite idea so far is the kick panel install but i don't want to hack up the panels.

I remember when I was about 5 years old, my brother installed a house speaker box in the trunk of my moms '78 320i. IIRC, it didnt sound that bad. But whenever you hit the brakes, the radio would shut off

the miata headrest speakers are the exact same
units found in my home theatre setup. I had to remove the drivers and put them into the miata "cups" but it sounds nice!

Phee, is there room under the seat or behind it for a shallow mount sub, I can't imagine you'd need more than a small box and an 8" or 10" to be more than enough in that cab.

no room behind my seat. I removed the seat slider block so I could get full extension.

shoof: found a set with tires for 300 down here. can you beat that?

Kicker makes a sub/amp combo called the Hideaway that got decent reviews. It should be able to fit under your seat.

i do not want to sacrifice any kind of leg room. not to mention mrs. phee will probably complain about a woofer pushing bass in her face.

i'll look into it, there are about 2-3 inches of space below the seat.

I put a powered sub box behind the passenger seat. There was a minimal amount of lost passenger leg room but it was worth it for the extra "boom".

Well, I knew it wasn't identical, but figured you'd dig the idea. On a positive, I'm fairly certain he didn't pick up that car for as cheap as you did!

update: recently changed all the fluids for my annual trip to miami and advanced the timing 4*.. it made a HUGE difference in power.

Not as much as the turbo kit will make but I'm piecing that together so this will have to do.

Car is still chugging along without a problem, still haven't figured out how to get the broken glove box open. I have to stop buying cars with broken glove boxes.
