Kind of a long story, but I need advice.

1. I bought a G35 from out of state, I live in CA.

2. The car has arrived and I received the pink slip with the bill of sale, etc. I have not filed any paper work to DMV yet ( I have 20 days to do this )

Can I sell this car to someone in CA and just hand him the pink slip / bill of sale?

If I go to the DMV, I would need to pay tax on the car and then the person that buys the car off of me would too.

Any advice here would be appreciated.

Don't you have to register it before you can take ownership? I think you have to go to an inspection station too to check out the car. Not sure how much it costs, but its one reason why I stayed away from a car before. Let us know how it goes through though, sorry I can't help you out much. I'm from Cali too, but I never actually bought the car.

Yea, I just want to avoid taking the ownership so I don't have to pay tax on the car and then sell the car right after that...

first of all yes you can sell it without taking ownership. It might be complicated because there are several things that need to be done depending on the age of the vehicle and if it meets California emmissions standards. For more info use this link http://www.dmv.ca.gov/ and go to vehicle registration section and hit on buying or selling a vehicle.

If the person that is buying it is financing it with a bank, the only person the bank will cut a check to is the owner of the car so in that case, you would have to register it.
