I am looking for strange/failed car ideas from the past
I am doing a little project, could you guys help me come up with strange/failed car ideas from the past. It should mostly have to do with the interior- for example, the Edsel had
transmission buttons on the steering wheel that one pressed to shift gears.
I am looking for the absurd- for things that are no longer used and people
think are pretty rediculous.
Thanks

AMC cars. Infiniti's initial marketing. Cadillac Cimmiron of the 80s.
The Maxima sunroof (the one in the middle that does not open) is cracking and breaking and probably won't be offered anymore.
The center pod for all the gauges as not really caught on, Saturn and the Echo use it and sell like crap.

I had an idea for something I called "Progressive Brake Light System (PBLS)" back in 1987. I wrote a proposal to GM about it. Basically it was a system that increased the intensity of the brake lights, proportionally to how hard the brake pedal was pressed - which I thought would be an invaluable upgrade in safety for a car, since it lets you know how hard the person in front of you is braking... remember normal brake lights are just on/off - regardless of how lightly or firmly you are pressing the brake pedal. Needless to say, nobody ever got back to me about it. I should have probably kept persistent with it and sent that proposal to more auto companies - I see BMW implementing similar types of safety systems for brake lights, today.... ![Doh](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/doh.gif)
I guess you could call this a kind of "failed" car idea....
