I own a bone stock 1999 TL.

Anyways it was about 10:30 pm.

I was about 3-miles away from my house at a stop light, no traffic.

So anyways a New Eclipse (Blue) w/ rims and 2 -teenage kids pull beside me givin a little rev. I looked at his car, its about a 2003 model and said V6.

I kind of smile and feeling like a teenager again. I looked at my Escort X50 radar detector, no beeps or bands detected. I give the kid a NOD.

I engage to sport shift , never even imagine racing my TL w/ 122K miles. The kid trys to slow rev launch on me when the light was still red, maybe is was impatient. Anyways Green light I rev off we both go. I hear fucker pulling BOOST , sounds like TURBO, pulling off me about 1 car after I engage to 2nd gear and I start to catch up the puss head notice I was coming on him,, bitch ass down shifts to 3rd over revs I pass his ass get into his lane and flash my hazzards at about 80mph.

So did I really win? I think he knew I was gaining on him once my Vtec reved and he was forced to down shift to try to get more UMP. So anyways... my question is should I of raced him is Sport shift or Auto? Maybe I will see him again and try again. It was good feeling like 10 again.

also, what does flashing your hazards mean?

that was prob his alternator going bad that sounded like a turbo. hahhaha. to be able to downshift he must have shifted way too early or he stropped racing when he got the jump on you off the line. i guess he was just launching you not racing you. he lives his life an 1/8 of a mile at a time becuase at 1/4 he would be dead last everytime. hahahahaa

Teenagers with new cars crack me up..He should of smoked you , the new Eclipse has 263 hp and is lighter than your TL-P..Nice win

its not the new one so its has a much samller v6 like 200 or something

Yeah the V6 MT are known to run a low 15 with a competent driver. Sounds like driver error but a kill's a kill.

oh..then you should be able to take the other one it only puts out 210 hp and is pretty slow off the jump, my boy has one and it aint that quick.
