How much is this worth?
Hey guys,
Saw someone else opening a thread asking how much he should ask for his car so I figured I do the same. I'm trying to sell one of my family cars. It's 2001 Honda Accord Coupe EX V6 3.0 Liter VTEC. It has 83,000 miles. No major damage to the car. Idealy, I would like to sell thru private party just to make a few more bucks.
According to KBB.com its private party value is $11,515 for excellent condition and $14,800 for suggested retail value. According to edmunds.com average trade-in value is $11,675 and Average retail value is $14,025.
I was thinking about $12,000 and possibly start it around $12,500. Any idea on what would be reasonable price to ask for? Also, for those who sold their cars thru private party what do you recommend that I use? Local listing? Autotrader.com ? I would like to get rid of this car as soon as possible regardless how much it'll cost me to do all the listings and ads.
Thanks in advance

You could list it for $12.5, but I doubt you will get close to that much... considering 01/02 cl-s's with less miles are selling under $12k (https://acurazine.com/forums/car-parts-sale-361/fs-2001-cl-type-s-auto-69k-%2412k-339740/)
I've sold my last two cars on Craigslist. I got 10x more responses there than I did from the $50 ad I put on cars.com or my autotrader ad.

well i think only reason cl-s is getting that amount is b/c it has really big depreciation that we are all aware of. Once again, I'm just going by numbers that those websites gave me.
Also forgot to mention but we purchase extended warranty till 100k. Should that add any amount to it also?

^ yeah, you're right... I'd actually be more interested in the Accord than the CL-s considering the tranny problems.
100k warranty definitely adds a few bucks to the price. I'd check out autotrader and craigslist, see if you can find what similar cars are going for. But I'd say 12.5 sounds like a reasonable starting point.

yea i figured having 100k warranty, i would be able to say that car is still covered somewhat by manufacturer. I'm gonna take some pictures today and put it up on craigslist starting at $12,500.
Have you tried putting up 'For Sale' sign and drive around with it? Is that any effective?
