I am on 13 years right now and counting for my Nissan.
Could I afford a new car, yes, I just don't need it especially with a new house around the corner. I work at home, don't drive all that much long distance, and I don' t need to impress anyone.

CLs: 52K in 3 years

Besides my escort which I have had for nearly 10 years now, I never had a car for more than 2 years. I plan to keep the TL; I've had it for nearly four years now.
98 Ford Escort: have had for over 10 years, plan to keep
99 Ford Mustang V6: Had for 3 months (traded for GT)
01 Ford Mustang GT: Had for about 18 months (traded for Maxima)
04 Maxima: Had for about 15 months (sold to private party)
06 G35c: Had for 12 months (12 month lease)
05 TL: had for nearly 4 years and plan to keep it.

that's one of the reasons i can't lease cars or trucks due to putting 20-25k on a year.
the most i hear of them "giving you" a year on a lease is 15k
i'd have to park it and drive something else for 5k a year atleast. or pay a dime a mile for 5k miles.which is like 500 bucks a year. which is like another payment

I keep my cars for about a year or two sometimes less.

How do you guys who keep a car for 2 years or less, NOT take a beating on them, when you trade/sell them? Do you buy them used? Just curious.

The TL is the only car that I liked enough to keep for good.

Compared to most of you, I keep vehicles a long time- the TL is 3 years and counting, the Odyssey is 4 years and counting, and every other car I've ever bought was 6+ years, other than the first (totaled in year 2).
I'm Crazy Acura's opposite...

94 Acura Integra LS = 12 years (sold with 195k, and it's still going)

03 Acura TL-S 11/06-Current ( picked up with 26k, has 62k, KEEPING IT)

^ What he said.
My RX-8, which is the car I owned for the shortest period of time, was purchased pre-owned from a dealer. I kept it 4-5 months (can't remember exactly), hated it... and sold it for the same price I paid for it on eBay.
If you buy a car used you're always going to sell it for less then what you paid. Thing with me is that I don't care sometimes. If I want another car, I sell my current car and get another car. Of course now our philosophy has changed and I don't know that I will buy another brand new car again. Makes much more sense to buy pre-owned and let someone else take the depreciation hit

Hmmm, lets see:
1. 85 Pontiac Fiero
2. 92 Honda Civic LX
3. 91 Honda Accord EX
4. 86 Honda CRX Si
5. 96 Dodge Avenger ES
6. 94 Honda Prelude VTEC

Overall, the Ford is the longest I've had any car. I got it in Oct 2004, just around the time I got my TSX and it has seen the TSX and Civic come and go. It'll probably see the departure of the G within the next year or so. I definitely have a problem....
