To me, that's a lack of common sense. It doesn't sound like the installer was in over his head but more like he's just not that smart to begin with and this job was completely beyond his intellectual capacity.

Wow....that's horrible. I can't believe someone would do that and expect that it will be OK. It looks like it was done in some guy's garage. I can't believe that he used a wood shim. I would be talking to my lawyer right about now.

If you own a 350Z why on earth would you want somebody to do $250 worth of body work on your investment? I'd WANT to pay more than that.....

wow that sucks. i just got my car painted a couple of weeks ago and i would have a heart attack if my car came back looking like that.
Live and learn. but 250 to get all that work done is pretty damn cheap. Thats a red flag right there.

Someday, an RS6 Avant+
I have a coat hanger to complete the effect. Just stick it where an antenna should be...
If you try to do things on the cheap, you get screwed. It happens, and this guy even paid and signed for it? Looks like two more in the fail column.

u gotta read the entire thread.
it's not that this guy is intentionally trying to screw ppl over, it's that he's a total fuggin idiot. the guy obviously doesn't get what it means to do professional paid customer work on $30,000+ cars.
if u read the whole thing he replies on another customers post about a fugged up job. he flat out admits that he is learning as he goes along and doesn't realize that this is not the correct way to do business...especially in socal of all places, arguably the import tuner capital of the world. he thinks it's ok to fugg up a job and then just offer to re-do it and thinks that ppl are cool with that, or should be cool with it because he's just starting his business and ppl should understand.
not trying to be an asshat, but i get the feeling the shop owner wasn't born in the usa but has been here for most of his life due to his mostly grammatically correct but not quite posts. i would lmao if he was born and raised here cus his scrambled grammar would be a sign that he probably isn't close to the brightest dude out there that most ppl want working on their expensive cars. i'm sure there are a lot of shops overseas anywhere in the world (umm like in 3rd world countries) where aftermarket service quality isn't expected to be 100% perfect like it is in socal.
the OP of the 350z thread said he went to this shop cus he saw pics of his previous work. apparently the guy had done some ok work in the past and is wildly inconsistent. supposedly the shop owner had a worker do the job and he just sprayed it after the kit had already been mounted (with wood screws). i bet that the pics of previous work were somewhat bad photos which probably hid orange peel and peeling paint.

I have zero body shop experience and I could do a WAY better job than that.
That guy should have his shop shut down, and his business license revoked.
That being said, there was red flag after red flag that the car owner should have heeded, but didn't. Almost as dumb as the shop owner, IMO.

I would be fucking PISSED!!!!!! That is one of the shittiest jobs I've ever seen. How in the HELL did he sign off on that?!?!?! That car now needs a few thousand in repairs to get it right.
If it's too good to be true, IT PROBABLY IS!!!

That's what I was thinking too. If you think you are going to get all that work done for $250, you are an idiot. Heck, it cost me $250 to paint my front lip on my car.

that's pretty bad and pretty sad.
There are plenty of tutorials and youtube vids to show you how to do all that stuff
Excuse of just learning...blah. Those are horrible attempts especially if he's done other cars before. Don't really want to get into that but I feel sorry for the owner. I can't imagine the feeling when getting home or even just arriving to the shop.

This story is getting so twisted. It's like telephone, were all kinda right and kinda wrong. From what I gather he was quoted 250 and it ended up 750. Now if that were my Z, I wouldnt have been surprised to hear 1500, for a GOOD job. The owner was cheap and imo stupid.
Those of you that have read through the whole thread probably saw the pics of this guys previous work, that the owner based his decision on. He says they look great, they look like crap.....hell, they look like the kind of work one of us would do as our first project. Then there's the story of the guy in Japan who had this idiot fly over there to ruin his cars too. Then there's the aim conversations, they both sound like idiots.
I liked his reasoning that I read for taking the car, I read on the thread that he took it because it was dark and because it took him 2 weeks to finish...what kind of reasoning is that?
The only time I had custom body work, it did take 2 weeks, but I stopped by every few days unannounced and just walked right in. The job also was much bigger and ran me 4800 cash, but they did excellent work and I picked my car up at night, BUT I had reasons to trust him, in fact I didnt have a reason not to trust him. He never IM'd me asking me how to raise my car. wtf is that?
anyway, the shop owner was subjected to too many fumes over the years, literally; read the thread, there's a pic of the guy spraying without a mask and all his half filled paint cans open all over the floor. He should be stopped from doing anymore work. That I dont disagree with.
However the owner is a tool, he should have seen the warning signs, he should have inspected the work, if I could afford a Z and had that done, I'd be down there every day. He should have walked away when he got the first quote.......but he didnt', so now I can laugh at that horrific job, because I know he kind got what he deserved, no one deserves that, but you know what I mean.
