honda odyssey?

I dunno if I can be a VAN MAN. But I am considering selling off our 1997 4x4 eddie bauer Expediton for a honda odyssey.

The Expedition gets like 13mpg at best in town and hwy maybe 17mpg.

I have 2 kids and considering the honda odyssey. Should this be a better overall vehicle to drive everyday? I just put new screen, dvd player and tires on the SUV which sucks b/c I know if will not get crap for it. But better to loose it now then never.

So any takers say i should jump to the honda odyssey?

I think it will be a improvement on gas thats for sure.

We spend nearly 80.00 a week just on fuel for the Expeidition. lol

Definately..I love the Odyssey , it's the only mini van I would buy. I'm like you defiantely not a van man but you can do tons of things to the Odyssey to make it more appealing. I saw last week at the rim shop a white odyssey with a lip kit and 22" wheels..looked sick

I've wondered about that... with the hp spec they way it is, I would think it would be...

If somehow I managed to need a minivan, the Odyssey would be top on my list. Guy at work has one, and all his kids are grown. He uses it for golf days, so it's comfortable for 4 guys and their clubs. It's also his roadtrip vehicle.. Got the loaded Touring package in redondo red/parchment. It's very nice.

Check out odyclub.com ...

This one doesn't look too bad

Hey on the 2000-2003 's are they prone to the tranny problem as the TL's are in the same year?

Looks like it: http://www.odyclub.com/forums/showth...threadid=31744

Neighbor just got one. Black on tan and it looks pretty damn good. I also like the Toyota Sienna as well. I would definetly get one of those 2 over a SUV.

I will be getting a minivan with 2 years

I got a 00 EX it's a blueish grey with 150 k on it . orginal tranny. LOVE IT. probably one of the most flexible (as far as abilities to do things). I get 22 mpg consistantly.
when my parents sold me my 00 they bought an 05. they got one of the last 60 05's made. They love their 05. they have about 12 k on it. I about 2-3 times a month get to drive they got a bright blue one it's a EX-L. the power from the old 3.5(My 00 to my parents 05) is unbelieveable. PLUS don't forget they get 25 mpg due to that cylinder shut down deal.
on a scale of 1-10 I'd give the 06 and new Odyseey like a 9.5. it's a hell of a van.
even though Dodge claims they set the bar as far as minivans Honda smokes them.

My parents bought an 05 Touring Ody last year and it's a great van. I love driving it. When we have a family, it would definetly be a van I'd love to have for us.

Yeah. Awesome van. My parents have an '05 EX-L and they love it as well. Gas mileage is dismal compared to what the EPA says but who cares about what the government says because they can never get anything right anyway. EX-L and Touring models get VCM which supposedly give better gas mileage. In real life driving, our EX-L gets anywhere between 17 and 23mpg mixed, which again, falls short from that 20mpg city/28mpg highway the government predicted. Anyways, the van is excellent compared to others, IMO. I also love driving that thing. It drives really like a normal sedan like the Accord. Don't let that tall body fool ya. That thing can really handle. So whatever you choose...try to get at least an '05.

I'm giddy reading rumors about Honda giving the Odyssey the Ridgeline's tranny, to accomodate more power. I think those rear lights would look so much better with LEDs, they seem to already have the design in place with those little squares in there.

Ugh, there's only one compalint I have about the '05 ody which I just remembered....

The Ody comes with remotes numbered #1 and #2 just like our CL's do. And it has the memory seat buttons in the van as well to reset the seats.

However, for some reason they didn't add the functionality to automatically set the seats when you hit the unlock button from the remote unlike our CL does.

For a while I kept tryin things to figure out why the seats wouldnt' automatically adjust when I used the unlock button on the remote. After reading the manual I realized that the van doesn't have it at all.

Now I don't know if that's the case for the '06 though.

It's no biggied hitting the memory seat button in the van, but I guess I got spoiled from my CL having it.

But the ody does have the auto window down feature from the remote.

> 04s are fine. Those transmissions run hot; add the OEM cooler and change the fluid every 15-20K.

Odysseys are good vans. Their transmissions seem to be "average" now so I wouldn't worry about them.

Not too much cause I'm modded and with these gas prices on a full tank I can go about 200 miles then I have to fill up.

Get an 05. The EX-L or Touring. The added gas mileage is worth the price difference over an 04, and the better tranny too.
