I believe the engine debuted in the 1992 Acura Vigor.

Nice car, never took off though.

it was hard for anyone near 5' 11"+ to not hit their head on the roof when going over something hard...talk about terrible head room.
The legend in '91 improved on this.

Vigor has a bit of a cult following. very nice car.
But the I5 was also in the first TL i believe, the 2.5TL. I test drove one years ago, pretty nice.

Hence the reason Chevrolet is putting an I5 in the new Colorado under the slogan "An American Revolution"??

The Vigor became the TL. I had a Vigor up until 2 years ago. Very refined for it's day. It should have been ... for $28K in 1992!

It's got a good following. It was never intended for the US market. Honda needed something in that middle market between the Integra and the Ledgend. It was actually designed (like the new TSX) for Europe and Japan. I always wanted a 5 speed vigor. Now that I have a 6 speed CL, I'm sure it would be a little dispointing. Anyway, I still get to drive my old Vigor ... my niece owns it.

Both the Gen II Legend and the Vigor had “front-to-back” engine setups like that even though they were FWD.
It made for much better weight distribution and lots of 4WD rumors back when they were sold.

Whish will be the reason no one will buy it! (Well, now that fuel is over $2.00 a gallon, maybe not).
