Honda and Acura @ top in CR 10-year brand reliability survey...

Honda was ranked 1 and Acura 2 in car makes, followed by Scion, Subaru, etc. in Consumer Report's Annual Car Reliability report (based on 1997-2007 models) just released today.
http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com...portsSays.aspx

Various headlines trumpet Toyota's slippage from the #1 position (to #5) due to issues with the Camry V-6 and 4WD Tundra.

So our Honda V6 glass trannies from 1999-2003 weren't that bad...

I wonder how that works, with scion only being around for the past 4 model years. Weird that for Honda/Toyota, the cheaper brands were ranked higher (honda over acura, and scion, then toyota, then lexus all the way down at #6)

Porsche is the highest ranked non-Japanese car on the list
and Nissan failed. I know my Pathfinder sucked, but that was a 96' . but it's weird to see such a huge disparity between infiniti and nissan. I guess the quest and titan really screwed them up.

I wonder how much Honda paid CR to overlook the tranny problem.

Compared to the transmission issues on the '07 Camry, the Honda tranny issues are miniscule.

Check out the owner reviews of the new Camry on MSN Autos. This car is turning out to be the biggest blunder in Toyota history. Unknown to the general public, Toyota's been buying this car back in droves.

My Step dad gets the hardcopy CR in the mail... The Acura's with the bad trannies had been given poor ratings in the past due to the transmission issues. I wonder what changed ??

CR never gave Acura poor ratings for the transmissions. It was only years after the model was tested and recommended did the issue surface. It may have affected CR's recommendation for a CL to be a good bet as a used car, however, I think CR is focusing primarily on 1 or 2 year old cars in this report.
