I've yet to subscribe to the PML, although I probably will soon. I've promised myself that I'll have a summer only "garage queen" by the time I'm 40 (2 1/2 more years). There are alot of online sources for used 911's too now, so the PML might be a little oldschool for some.

I've got to buy Batchelors book (and Paul Frere, Patrick C. Paternie, etc, etc). I've got the Peter Morgan one (and BA's performance handbook). Alot of great books out there on the topic, and even more info available on the web.

Yes, I tend to agree that with porsche selling more cars now, it lessens the exclusivity of the brand. I just find is mildly curious that a prior generation car is worth more then the current one (993 vs. 996). If a used 1st gen CL (1999) was worth more then a comparible condition 2nd gen CL (2001), it would seem quite odd.

I'm getting used to the 996 and 986 (Boxster), and I'm slowing accepting them as part of porsche moving foward with technology. I think that the 997 will also help win over some of the older aircooled diehards too. The Boxster coupe does look sweet, doesn't it

I've got an aircooled 79 vw bus, so I've always been intriqued with aircooled vehicles. Part of my "issues" with the watercooled Porsches is strickly economic. I'm to poor to own one for awhile With the prices of 996s falling as of late, that might not be a problem anymore. A 996 C4 w/ it's awd would make for a nice winter beater

one reason the 993 TT's are worth still a good amount is they weren't produced in nearly the quantity that the current 996TT's. And the 996TT's market has fallen HARD, I've seen some low mileage 01 cars for very low 80's at auction. And have seen numerous people buy them in the high 80 mark for even 02's. It's amazing. You can find a virtually undriven 03 GT2 for around 130-140. And the discounts the dealers are offering ont he turbos is unreal.

Another reason why the value may be higher is because the 993's are air-cooled and there are a lot of diehard air cooled porsches out there. It's also been said that the 993TT is a lot more of a drivers car then the 996. But that's something astro can talk about

if I had my choice for 30K it'd definately be a 930 turbo

I'd take the Viper.
I was thinking along the same lines....what's the cost to maintain a Viper? And a 911?

I would get a 1993 RS America or 1994 3.6 Turbo. My 2 favorite 911s. Viper is not my style.
