Question HID Question

my dad has a 2005 Lexus RX330 and his HID bulbs have been looking a bit dark so I bought a pair of bulbs from HIDextra.com since I've had really good experience with them in the past with my other cars and the kits seen to be doing well. I put the bulbs in and they light up pretty nicely...then they start flickering. First it's just a little bit, but as they warm up, they flicker more and more and faster and faster. I tried to reinstall them on other sides but nothing....I eventually had to install the old ones back. Any ideas on why the bulbs would flicker? I got the D2S 5000k bulbs. I have to use the stock plug because it has the auto leveler. Any ideas?

You get what you pay for! Why would you want to put some cheap bulbs in a Lexus? eBay has oem bulbs for cheap!

i've had about 5 hid kits from HIDextra and never had any problem.

you probably got a defected unit or something. why don't you just contact hidextra directly? shouldn't they be the expert on it???

If you purchased the correct bulb (there are different bulb types) like D2R, D2S, D1S, etc... So make sure you bought the right one with the correct voltage. Then if so, test them in a known good application (another car).

It's possible the ballast is bad (the thing that hops up your car voltage to the 40-80 volts needed to ignite the xenon gas). Or, as suggested above, you got one of the bum units and you could send them back.

definitely wasn't sure if this was the right thread to put it in. The bulbs are correct D2S, based on the owners manual. They do fit right in and start up...I'm guessing it might be the voltage. I put the old bulbs back and they work fine. I went with these bulbs because I have 4 other sets from hidextra and never have a problem. My only guess was the voltage. If I got a better bulb, would that make a difference?

After market bulbs are usually hit or a miss when it comes to dependability, this does not imply that I am trying to knock on someone's product, I just speak from experience with them over the years.

Best HID bulb that I personally use and recommend is Phillips 85122+ , I wouldnt put anything else in my lights unless Phillips comes up with something better. Also, the RX comes with these from factory .

You can pick a pair up from the following
