Help Purchasing a car in Florida (Temp Tags)

Long time no see fellas!

I'm planning on an out of state Purchase from Florida and driving the car home to California.

The only problem is the temporary tags. In order for Florida to issue you temporary tags, they require you to pay the 6% sales tax.

That means I'd have to pay 6% sales tax in Florida, and then another 8+% in California.

Is there anything I can do to avoid this besides having the car shipped?

Thanks in advance

If you do the transaction at the DMV you can get your plates right away

Is it possible to bring a license plate from one of your existing cars with you and put it on the car to get it home to CA?

Also, any chance CA will just make you pay the 2% difference between the two states? It strikes me odd that FL would force you to pay the sales tax to get a temporary tag when the states I've had experience in (Tennessee and Ohio) just charge you a small flat fee ($30-$50) for a 30 day tag.

Easy.....Take your plate off your car in CA. Insure the new car your buying. Stick plate on the car in FL that is now insured under you. Get bill of sale so you can prove you bought it. Drive back to CA.

DING DING DING. CA will only make you pay the difference in sales taxes. So when you get back to CA, you'll only be responsible for the 2% increase in sales taxes.
