The 3G TL has a lot going for it- quick, comfy, stable & predictable at speed. My lease (1st one, for business purposes) is up in Sept/Oct., and I have been looking to see if there is another car that strikes the same chord with me. I'm having difficulty finding a manual trans 335i to test drive, and am hopefully going to be testing the A3/A4, as well as the G35/G37, CTS and Volvo C30 (damn little bugger can get expensive with all the options ). I may end up buying the TL and keeping it as a DD.
However, there are days I would want a MX-5 or a 2G-3G ('67-'70) Mustang fastback. I haven't driven any Porsches, Ferraris, Aston Martins, the Ford GT, S2000 or an NSX, but think there are times when I think I want one. If I win the big jackpot in the lottery, I'll get the perfect... five cars.

Holy-pics-needs-resizing, Batman!
My '02 TL-S was a great car to me. I still miss that car but I know the current owner and he'll take good care of that TL-S.
Current car, G37 -- it's fun but not nearly as practical as the TL-S (2-door VS 4-door, trunk space, etc) but doesn't quite have the same character. I'll see how the G drives in the winter since it is a DD, but I won't know for at least another 4 months. It's definitely not "the one" ... because if I obtained 'the one' ... what would I dream of next?
(perhaps getting a little too philosophical ...)

i found the perfect car(for the moment) but i just cant afford it. the S5 is truly everything i want in a car, and yes that is me badge whoring too
Im super happy with the CL-S at this moment, its does everything I need it to and a little more( i need to start modding) but I just cannot help but drool when I see an S5(or A5) cruise down the street.

but the perfect car to me is the S5 as well. the DBS is, as yumchah would say, "perfect," but i don't think i'd ever buy a car that expensive.

To those jerking off over the S5, have any of you driven one? Styling is great, yes, but the driving was typical of most modern cars and push come to shove I would sacrifice some styling and get the 335 which I feel is more of a drivers car, then factor in that the S5 is closer to M3 pricing, it becomes an easier choice, I dunno About a month ago a I spent the weekend with a friends 08 S4 and it left me thoroughly unimpressed, it felt heavy and only marginally faster then my old infiniti, left a sour taste in my mouth, certainly not a car I would lust over any time soon.

The problem I have is that I have a dog and the cars I want would just get trashed by her and her muddy paws.
So it's either two cars, or one less than ideal one.
I wouldn't trade my dog for anything but it does limit what I put my money into.
I still think the A5 S-Line is the car for me

I still like the TL after four years, but it's not everything I want. It is surprisingly close, though. I'll be keeping it for at least five or six more years, though, due to other plans. After that, I'll be looking to get a car (or two) that satisfies everything...but that's a long way off to worry about now.

Variety is the spice of life! It's tough to find a jack-of-all-trades car that can satisfy all of my needs. Part of me loves the true sports car that turns heads. But, part of me also likes the beater I can throw my surfboard in, park wherever I want and not have to stress, get sand in, etc. Part of me also likes the car with enough space that I can do my Sam's Club runs with no worries.
The 911 was the car I always dreamed of getting. To me, it's history and iconic nature transcend so many other cars. So many comparo tests in the car mags pit so-and-so against the carrera or carrera s or turbo or gt3. I like having a car that sets the standard.
But I'd never be able to take the 911 to the beach or hiking. For that, the Element is the perfect counterpart. Roomy yet compact. Easy to keep clean. Great on the mileage.
I'll prolly keep both cars for awhile but that doesn't mean I'm not always looking at other cars down the road.

I loved that car too, did 200k mi without blinking. But it could never be a daily driver getting 10-12mpg, so it ended up just sitting around unless we needed to haul something. We ended up selling it to a family friend/mechanic, who wants to take it offroading, so maybe I'll still get to see it once in a while.

The one for me is a Carrera GT but is still out of reach for me. so it's NO.
I can't honestly say that I've found the ''one''. If there was ever one car close to being perfect was my E46 330xi. Man, I loved that thing even more than my 335 I think. I've owned quite a number of Bimmers in my life, but as good, fast and sporty as they were, I still wouldn't consider them ''motoring perfection.''I was about to pick up the E90 M3 sedan until I test drove then bought an E39 M5 they had on the lot. It was pretty much a very similar experience except one was newer and had new, state-of-the-art technology. They all filled their duties without many problems and were all good in their own way. I change cars too often to become emotionally attached to one. I really like my current cars, my M5 is a luxurious ride that can become a beast when asked. I look forward to drive it a lot, but it's nothing that'll keep me awake at night. It;s a fine car like they don't make them anymore, I'll try to keep it for now. One thing that I realized, with my A8 is that I'm a little too old for good old speed now. Every chance I get to drive her, I notice how a silent, luxurious powerful sedan is what makes it perfect after a long day of work. It's got something the M doesn't have. The ride quality. Maybe I'm turning into a grandpa.
I've test driven many cars like the new M3, M5 but while they were very good, none ever came close to the day I test drove a Porsche C2S. Now that was a car. There's something very iconic about a Porsche that I really cannot explain. That's engineering. Maybe one day when I part ways with the M5...

My TL would have been my "the car"..... only if it was a manual one.
I SO regret of buying an automatic. But other than that, I love my TL very much.

Damn I gotta give you props.... I bought my own car too and I had a job when I was 16 but I wasn't even close to making enough to buy any decent car let alone a TL.

I fell in love with the 3G TL's styling when I had first laid eyes on it. And when it was offered with a 6spd to boot, I was even more ecstatic. So yes, I think I have found "the one" . . . until I can get into a sports sedan from Lexus that I can afford with an optional manual transmission.

^ Hey ... nothing wrong living at home after college. I have been doing that and I have way more equity than all of my friends making $100k+/yr since grad.
Just 'cause you live with your mama doesn't make you a sucka.
Going back on topic ... because I've been saving, I have time to mill on what is 'the one' as opposed to "How long do I have to save up to afford 'the one'?"
But asked the same question ... probably a GT-R (if I could actually find one to test drive) since it has a backseat and they don't make NSX's any more. Another consideration (ever since I went to the UK) ... Aston Martin. Those things look so pimp. And no ... it's not because of Yumchah!

the Accord i have i've had it for about 8-9 years. why do i keep it?
easy on gas and it's paid off.
why don't i go get a new car couple reasons:
#1. nothing out right now that grabs my attention
#2. i'd rather get something nicer than an Accord again so i gotta build up a down payment
#3. waiting on Hydrogen to be offer nationwide in cars. not just in a few cities like in CA.
