Have you ever bought a car on ebay/out of state?

Did you get a loan through autotrader or you used your own credit union/bank? Also how would it work if you bought a car that is out of state?

I bought my SHO in St. Louis, but it wasn't an Ebay transaction, just a personal one. I had a bill of sale written up, signed the title, had proof of insurance, and drove it home!

I bought my 335 from a private seller in Tennessee. We did the transaction at a BMW dealer where he bought another car. I had a pre-approval letter from my credit union. The finance lady at the BMW dealership asked to beat my credit union and I let her. She took care of that part of the deal and gave me Tenn. temp tag. When I got back to La., I went to the DMV and paid the taxes and registered the car here.

I live in North Carolina and purchased my tsx from a dealer in PA. They included the sales tax from NC, registration fees, etc. in my car loan. A few weeks later I received the registration-no problem

I bought my Q7 from a dealer out of state. Secured a rate from my credit union, but ended up going with the dealer financing because they gave me a better deal. Drove it home with temp tags.

I bought my 99 TL on ebay from Houston. I went to my credit union and got a loan. My credit union contacted the seller and made payment arrangements. I flew out to Houston and drove her back to Denver. It was the smoothest vehicle transaction I've ever had. My dad bought a 99 Infiniti QX4 from Vegas on ebay and bought my mom's 2000 RL from Dallas on ebay. Easy, fast, and hassle free.

I bought my Nova from a guy on Ebay in IL, and I'm in NJ. I wired the money in to his account and had it shipped via enclosed transport.

i bought a privately sold car from VA and the title was handed over after being signed. I had a autodraft from the credit union and didn't really have any issues.

I bought another private sale car from NJ and same situation.

We bought another car from NJ but it was from a dealer and they charged us the tax at the time of sale.

This sounds about right.

I have bought and sold several vehicles on eBay, most recently my Aprilia from a guy in NH. I can't comment much on the loan part b/c financing was never involved when we purchased, but typically the registration showed up with the vehicle since it was paid for in full at the time of the transaction. Taxes were then paid when we registered...

I sell probably 20 cars a year on Ebay through my dealership. My usual rule is I will take a cashiers check from any well known bank or credit union. Wont take like St. Louis Federal teachers credit union, just too risky for me. I also always call and verify funds before i turn loose of the title, I usually do it while they test drive the car so its not awkward.

bought my 530xi and 350Z 'vert, both out of state (PA). The 530 I had a company go and look at it, create/send a report. The 350 was brand new in a dealership. Both cars I put a deposit on with my credit card and both I paid in full with cashier's checks. When I registered the cars in NYS, I paid it based on the amount of $$ the car cost.

i noticed your in California. we have a bunch of bs rules like the car has to 50 states legal or has to have this amount of mileage before you can register it in cali. so check your dmv website before considering. I almost got shafted when i bought my Triumph Daytona 675 bike from AZ
