Btw, my friend stalled it right after we switched too......
I learned on my friend's old Altima. We never went into traffic so it was easy for me to get hang of it. But holy crap, when I went to pick it up, it was so frightening with cars behind me at a red light. I was unfamiliar with the area and ended up stalling. I figured it was best to let him drive it home....

Thanks Moog! I knew you'd approve.

Yeah. So glad Huffs are standard this year. Snowflakes are IMO. Might get a set for snow tires though!

what you need once you tip the break in period is go autocrossing get used to it, then go stage 2, with a turbo back exhaust from APR which doesnt have a drone sound, then go tracking

I remember there's some guy on the golfmkv forums that frequently visits the nurburgring and he's pushing like 330 hp at the wheels, and has awd, limited slip and all those types of goodies. Forgot what times he was getting though.

Ohh yea just saw in the other thread a boost guage may interest you, theres one that goes onto the driver side vent and might have similar color lighting to your gauges? I forget. Its ont he forum though haha

Believe me, I want to! But I'm taking it slow.

Lots of unexpected traffic on my long commute to work so I want to be comfortable with the clutch first.

I was avoiding having to buy in NJ or MD for that reason alone.

Even stage 1 won't be for a while.

And yeah, I've seen the boost gauge on the driver side vent. My friend said he was going to get that when he gets his GTI.

That interior is P-I-M-P!!! Love the plaid seats and euro racing steering wheel. Definitely strong selling features. Oh I guess that 2.0T isn't too shabby either.

Thanks guys! The interior was one of the more important criteria for me since I have to look at it a lot.

There isn't an arm rest cubby, but I'll learn to live without it

It looked and sound pretty good.

Are you saying there are none on the lot, or that they won't allow you to test drive?

When I bought my MkV, they "tried" to say that no test drives were allowed, but they came around to my way of thinking if you you know what I mean, and thus the test drives were a-plenty....including an R32

There are a lot of young clownz trying to go in and "test drive" the GTI's....and they have no interest in buying them or cannot afford them....they just want to thrash them about for fun.....VW is not very cool with that....it's understandable to a point.

Saying there are literally none in stock. VW is an hour away (myrtle beach, columbia, or sumter) from me (florence).
I should have no problem test driving, I'm 25, married, home owner, multiple vehicles and usually in my work uniform as a nuclear operator. I wish they would deny me a test drive, I'd come back with cash and wave it in their face and buy from another dealer. I usually get out of work at 5 so everything is closed by the time I can get anywhere. Friday is my only day to shop.

This friday driving a 2010 TL (FWD) and a 2004 S2K, I just don't know what I WANT yet. Ya know?

Nice!

They're pretty expensive, but I think Golf R LED tails will be my first cosmetic mod. I've only seen 1 GTI with that around here. They're so damn sexy!!

Hopefully you find one soon, my dealer let me wring it out a bit and it was a blast!

Kind of felt bad that I couldn't get a deal done with that dealer for that reason, but their price was beat by a lotttt...

It's about $730 for OEM lights from Europe.

And if I remember right, there's also wiring harnesses to make it fully functional. So maybe ~$750?

There are so many better things to do with that money especially on your car!

For that kind of coin you can go stage 1....especially when APR is having a sale.

They're having a sale right now! Ending July 31st. Gahhhh so tempting, but must resist.

Any mods on your Mk5, Moog?

Are you going to keep your car +5 years? If so, you should just have fun as in stock form for a little.

Then, maybe slowly mod your car, so you don't get bored with it too easily.

I believe APR runs its special sales almost every season. So, if you are worried about missing that promotional price, it'll come around again.

Yeah, I plan on keeping it for a while. APR does a summer sale every year, I think. I wasn't worried about missing it. Just the thought of it was exciting!

I love the progression you made on your car. I'll probably do the same. Stock and then mod slowly if it gets boring.

Yes! Do it slowly! Because there's no such thing as enough power. Even if your car puts down 250, 300, 350, or whatever, you will get bored with it eventually.

Just have fun! I'm sure it's incredibly fun to drive.

you also need VAGCOM to make it work, I think I read that somewhere.

But still do it!! They look so damn nice!
