I would go with the 740 in a millisecond.
I think the 7 is one of the best cars on the road.
While the GS400 may be smooth, the 740 has that and better styling and a whole lot of gizmos to boot.

A GS?? what? GS400 and 740i aren't even in the same league.

GS400 and BMW 540i are in the same league. Are you sure your not asking LS400(LS430) or 740i?

Well, if it GS400 vs. 740i, I'd pick 740i in a second! Heck, tell him to go to Germany and pick one up with a 6-speed and then he'd be flying!

I think I'd rather have a 740i vs. 740iL because its 6 inches shorter in length and hence faster!

Both of those cars are no longer being produced, so I assume you mean used. I would go with the 740i Sport. They have depreciated heavily due to the new model coming out, so it is practically a steal.

I was behind one yesterday whilst in my P.O.S. Galant loaner going home. Titanium Silver, black interior, tint, 18" staggered wheels. That motherfucker had one bad-ass stance with a mean rake.

Love it!

those 2 cars aren't even comparable. the GS430 is in a different class than the 740i. i mean if you were comparing an S500 and a 740i... or a GS430 with a 540i... then there would be something to compare.

so in this case, 740i hands down.

Wow, that seven series is sweet looking.
It almost reminds me of the body lines on the early 90's Aston's.

Go for the GS400, so he still can have the current body style for couple more years. The new 745i has already come out.
