The Coyote is such a screamer, I'd love to hear what the side pipes sound like when you're pulling her up to redline!

Have the fuel pressure dialed in @ 55PSI. If my son in law Jimmy is around will run it up for a vid. Its very loud with a solid, hard, sharp edge. Be interesting to hear it when its dyno tuned.

Been finishing up detail work, weather stripping, extra heat shields on potential hot spots, vent piping, homemade charcoal canister for fuel tank vent, radiator rock shield, etc.

Have a U-Haul trailer scheduled for Thursday to take it to Whitby's in Greensboro with the Expedition as the tow car. Should be able to register it under NCDMV regs as a 1965 COBRA which will get black/orange "Historic" plates but more importantly no emissions test requirements.

Gotta love the South, no front plate & no emissions testing.

I'm jealous on many levels.

1) The car is badass
2) You built it yourself
3) No front license plate

Sounds awesome!

And no front plate or emissions is nice. If you moved a little further south, you wouldn't even need special plates to not have emissions.

You can register it without the special plate & still get no emission testing. Under NCDMV a replica is registered as what it replicates, 1965 Cobra, regardless of when built or what power train it has.

Most of the guys in the Raleigh Cobra group have gone with the orange over black 4 digit historic plate that replicates the actual 1965 plate.

Trailered the go cart chassis off to the paint shop this morning.

Agree, have two milestones in December - Birthday & Christmas, hope the car makes one of them. Was about 11/29/13 I decided to get one. The year went by pretty quickly.

Did they give an expected completion date? been following this thread from the beginning, I feel like I've been on the journey with you. you know, without all the fun, excitement and joy of actually being able to drive the car at the end.

Still fun to watch though (he tells himself in disgust)

No I don't have an ETA from Whitby. The car was first in line for paint so that could be a week or so the way they do it.

They are also doing some things for me that I don't have the equipment to do like 4 wheel alignment.

My hope, based on nothing but wishful thinking, is some time in December.

Love the rolling chassis shots! Does a little part of you feel like Carroll Shelby now that you're constructing a cobra yourself?

It'll be filled again soon enough.

Or probably not, since I assume you'll be out driving it!

Is there anything left to do besides paint the body and mount it on the car?

Just a few small things like installing the lights, mirrors, sat antenna etc. Heavy work is all done. The body is just a 120lb shell that covers everything up but provides no structural support.

UPDATE:

Was down to Greensboro on Monday to check out some test spray panels (underside of trunk lid) & order a tonneau cover like the one in the pictures. The car has no top & the cover works well for everyday use. Had them on my British Triumphs & Morgans in the '60s.

With Christmas break the car is still a few weeks out.

PS: No luggage rack on my car. I do like those wire wheels but they are horribly expensive. The picture is a 289 replicar & the wire wheels suit it, not so much the 427's

Thank you but bummer it isn't ready for xmas. As for the cover, my dad had one for an MG and loved it, never had to put the top up and stayed warmer on the cooler days.

We have a place in Raleigh (Next to Crabtree Mall). We will be in Raleigh Dec 26-Jan 3. If your car is around, would LOVE to check it out in person!

We are off Honeycutt to the north of Crabtree along Six Forks/Possum Track. Don't expect to have the car back by the 3rd but you are welcome to stop by when its back & you are in town.

You are not far at all. We are off Stannard Trail (from Leadmine Road).

Will look you up in Spring, when we are back

My local Los Angeles "SuperCarSunday" has a lot of the Cobra Replicas. THey all used to be Blue/white stripe, black, the usual.

Lately I Have been seeing some of the dark brown/bronze color. THe new color on the 991 Porsche. Looks great.

I am a sucker for red/yellow/orange.

I wonder if there is a lime green Cobra replica

Our once a month Cobra group is mostly blue & white, a few black ones & a nice gunmetal with black phantom stripes. We meet first Saturday of the month for coffee down by Crabtree Mall in the Hardies parking lot @ Creedmoor & Millbrook 8:30 AM.
