Looks like the R is overwhelmingly most people's choice, and for good reason, it's sick. But coming from having both a Subie and a VW I personally would chose the EVO =P

Well, I don't see people around the age of 40 driving a GTI or R32.

VW apparently manages to keep the torque steer very controlled. I've never heard any complaints about it from the tuned GTI crowd.

That's because most are married and nothing ruins a man's life faster than the words, "I do"

I voted for the STi but I'm biased since I have a 2011 STi sedan. I loved the sedans back in 2005 but couldn't afford one at the time and settled for a 2006 Si. Now that the sedan is back I had to pick it up. The ride is a great combination of comfort and handling compared to the hfp suspension on my Si, the engine feels great, and like all the cars on this list the AWD is great in all conditions. The R20 was not announced as coming to the US at the time I picked up the STi but I would still pick the STi based on the pics I have seen. I'll drive the R20 if I get a chance.

Surprised at the lack of support for the EVO. That would be my choice stock. I don't think the Golf R has the power to compete with the STi and EVO, and I've never been a fan of this current generation Impreza.

But after seeing the numbers posted after a tune... I think the Golf R would be kinda cool.

I've read that well in europe at least, the Golf R and STI are similar performance wise with the EVO outmatching both.
