GMC Envoy or Chevy Trailblazer ?

What do you guys thing?

This is for my sister.

She is married, 2 kids and dog. So need to upgrade from Toyota Corolla. Her lease will be up soon.

At first I told her to go check out the Honda Pilot. She liked it but lease was about 430/m with 1k/down. Her credit not that up there, but average.

So as you can see she is looking for a mid size suv, not small like a rav 4 or ford escape.

What do you guys think? Any of you own one of these 2? How is ride, quality, problems, etc....?

They are the exact same SUV. Should basically come down to styling and/or the better lease rate.

That came to mind also, they look almost identical with the execptions of lights, and trimming. Minor things.

Thanks Dom.. I will see what other comments are made also.. I am going with her tomorrow to take a look at them.

Envoy>Trailblazer if thats the decision.

Slightly more expensive, but the interior is much nicer than the trailblazer. Plus I like the outside a little better as well.

My dad had one and it was a great truck to us. Never had any issues with it and we used the truck a lot. Put on 60k miles within like 2-3 years. We used it tow our boat and it was fun getting a truck to chirp into second :D (4.10 gears own). Gas was decent with the lower gearing, got between 17-20 with mixed driving. You can get higher mileage if you don't get the 4.10 gears which are only really needed for towing.

The truck rode very well. Ours had the rear air suspension (again part of the towing pacakge) and that was slightly annoying, but it was great when you loaded up the rear and the truck sat even. The thing rode like a Cadillac. It was slightly disconnected from the road, but handling was decent for a regular truck.

Apparently there are some issues with them that Tireguy can tell you about, but of the 3 my dad owned (different generations each) they never gave us problems.

How long are they planning on keeping it for?

I'm sure with the way gas is now they aren't flying off the lots and you can probably get a decent deal on one. Ours was 37k new, fully loaded, but that was before GM was adding tons of incentives to buy their product.

My sister is going lease again. I guess 4 year lease. Not to be driven alot.

Mind you that my sister leased her current car (corolloa) 10 miles on it, 4 years have passed and she has only 24k miles. lol.

Also, she is not looking to get one with all the gadgets(sp), i think she is looking into lower class on both of these. The most she will get extra right now is the rear entertainment for the kids.

I see them on the lots for 26,900.

Does anyone know what kinda specials they got right now? Like back in the day they had the 10k reduction on all, employee pricing and so on.. i cant seem to find anything going on right now.

I know it's not one of your options, but....... Toyota 4Runner!

Pathfinder's and Murano's also have good lease rates, might want to check those out too.

Envoys/Trailblazers dont lease out that well. Look import. That Honda payment seems high.

for what its worth I had a trail blazer, and my dad has one now. not the most impressive inside, but I loved it. has good power, not all that bad on gas and i found it comfortable.

not much of an SUV guy, and never drove an envoy, but I know that I hate the extended wheelbase version in both, just looks akward, but I guess it's functional

For this reason I wouldn't put MY sister in one of these. I didn't see results for the Pathfinder, but it HAS to be better. Check it out.
Oh, here are results for the PAthfinder:

If your gonna compare vehicles ratings, use one source :2cents:

The second link shows the Envoy one star off of a Pathfinder for driver frontal impact. Everything else is the same.

^^ You're talking about stars, but look at the actual crash test measurements. There's enough difference there in favor of the Nissan to substantiate my opinion. This is using the same source, internetautoguide.com

Does she really need an SUV? Sorry, I'm just surprised that people are still buying them with gas the way it is. Would she look at a bigger car instead?

Water-S 05-05-2006 11:15 AM

my brother in law has a Mitsubushi Montero. He loves it. he claims that's all he'll buy from now on. he used to be a hard core Ford dude. but he got a good deal on his Montero and been a happy camper. it has 3rd row seat and a decent v-6 (he thinks it's "spunky" i'd say it's "decent") I do like the sideways swing on the rear door. He's tall(like 6 ft 2 and I'm 6 ft 3) I have a Honda Odyseey and it swings up so when I go to load crap I gotta watch my head.
