ok, quick question, I want to put a muffler on my CL, the original muffler is finally rotting out and I want to get a flowmaster. However I just want the muffler done, let's face it, I'm not a rich guy and have a lot of hobbies, so I just want to change the tone a bit.

Anyway, I've been trying to find a good price on an install, but the lowest I've found is $100 for a high school welding apprentice to do it. Shouldnt I be able to find cheaper than that or is this an ok price? Were basically talking about welding on two hangers and welding the pipe on.

 

It seems like it will be a custom job in your case rather than a bolt on, if it was a bolt on then I would have said that you should go with the apprentice option but since it is a custom job I'd say shop around and look for someone reasonable (dont confuse reasonable with cheapest). You want someone who knows what they are doing, this sort of job shouldnt cost you more than $150 from a proper tech, check with meineke first to see what they offer to get an idea.

 

What $100 for a highschool kid to to it? that a rip off ever I got my whole exhaust system torn down and replace with an after market performace for $150 (included the header too), if you want to replace the muffler then it should run you about $50 or so on any muffler shop but around my area I can hook you up for about $20.

 

thanks guys, I do need to look around more. The last time I got something like this done was in 1999 and it was the same price. It stinks because I like the stock muffler, has a nice tone but I'd just like it a bit louder.
