gas went down a good 10-15 cents

Friday i was on a 1/4 of a tank. last week gas was for regular(i'm a cheap ass with gas)2.15-2.20(depending on where you get it). so I stopped at the local Kroger's gas station(yes we have a gas station at the Krogers) it was 2.00 for regular. . I went by there on Saturday afternoon and it was still 2.00.
so maybe gas is FINALLY coming down.

Yesterday: $2.499/gal in SLC, UT for 91

I recently read that demand for the lowest grade gas is up significantly, while demand for the premium verisons is down. Car owners are attempting to save some beans by pumping lower octane. I'll pass, thank you. Never know when you need to beat down a 323 or...

$2.4x in my area for 93. Still no where near as bad as paying for $4+ for a gallon of gas that people pay in other countries.

The cheapest I saw yesterday was $2.15 for no frills (Delta) 93 octane here in Central NJ. This is what I use in my minivan. But I typically get Sunoco Ultra 94 for my 02 Maxima which is currently at $2.29 near me.

Note to self: Fill up tank when in MA...

That's a good $0.20 cheaper per gallon than here in the DC metro area.

Price in London and Paris was about $7/gallon last week. Explains why >50% of new car sales in europe are diesels.

I asked the owner of the shop where I work if I could ever expect to see the price of gas go below 2.00 dollars a gallon again in my lifetime (assuming I stay in California)....he said dont count on it. He is the owner of a 76 station (I work at his other shop) and I would assume has a little more insight that I would as to the future of gas prices. Ca can expect to see 3 dollars a gallon this summer (some of us already do in the bay area) thankfully im still only paying a bargain at 2.77 a gallon.

A major part of that is Europe's gas tax, which is 70% of the pump price.

with 70% tax i'd think they could repave every road every year.
here in Ohio it's 35 or 40 cents per gallon(I forget which)
and in the county i live in for county roads we have 1/2 of percent on sales tax for "road repair" you'd be amazed at what that 1/2 percent helped out the roads. before i'd be afraid to drive down some of the county roads due to potholes and the road was worn out. now some of the roads are nicer than state roads.

The massive gas taxes in Europe got started many years ago when few people there had cars. It was seen then as a way to "soak the rich" so to speak. When car ownership became common in the 50's and more so in the 60's the Euro-governments were hooked on the money. And no, it's not like in the US, most of the money is NOT spent on roads and such.

that would piss me off. it's one thing if they'd be out there repaveing the roads all the time. but if it's just going to the goverment that's gay. It's designed make people walk or ride a bus/ ride a bike. lord help us if we're a car nut like most of us on the board and live in England. you couldn't afford, car payment, fuel cost, insurance, oil changes/misc upkeep on the car, and work 1 job keep the car.
now we know why America the land of opptuntity.
