They made the G37 plain because Nissan wants you to spend 70K on the GT-R instead!

And if I did buy a GT-R ... I would wait until the initial hype is gone. Plus in a couple year's time ... all the jobs will be out of Michigan (Detroit area) and so I would probably be on the short list ... I might be able to score a decent price with my local Nissan dealership since I went to school with the general manager. He's hinted to me he'll take care of me
well to be honest, if its around the 80K mark, it something i can think of... but frankly 100K is something which i'm not looking to spend... Let see what happens.

When I took my G35c in for service a couple of months ago, one the sales guys was telling me how everyone will be very impressed with the new coupe and tried to suggest to me that I should put a deposit down. Now that I see more pics of the new coupe, and compare it to the new G35 Sedan, I think the Sedan looks better. My G35c comes off of lease in June, and if I get another Infiniti, it will either be the old style g35 Coupe or the new Sedan.

I saw a dark blue G37 Coupe two nights ago at WalMart in Boca Raton.

After snapping my neck with a double-take, my first impression was not a good one. I have been looking forward to it coming out.

I am a longtime Nisssan fan having had several Maximas. I always said that if they ever made a RWD Maxima Coupe, I would be all over it. Well, they did and they called it a G35 but I could not stomach the looks -especially the interior -nor the arrogant attitude of the dealer who wanted a premium over MSRP when they first came out.

Thus, I bought my new TL.

I am sure that arrogance will re-emerge on the G37 and the dealers will try and shake down the early buyers.

But, it looked ugly in profile to me in the previous generation Z-car way. Kind of out of proportion and "upright"- not swoopy as one would expect. Why can't they make a pillarless coupe? With the fixed quarter window and black paint all over the inside of it, the design just doesn't flow.

Nissan needs to hire a new grille designer. They just can't seem to get that right. Then, when they are getting beat up by the market place for their ugly grilles, they stubbornly hang on to them (see Maxima).

PS: Put me down in the B. S. column re: "the engine won't fit in the sedan" I believe the exterior dimensions are the same as the 3.5.

That's not good, well I need a 4 dr anyways and the G35 sedan would fit the bill. I bet 80% that there will be a G37 sedan. They did it before when the I30 became the I35.

GT-R is probably too overhyped like the G37. I have always been a fan of the R34 as any other PS2 / Gran Turismo player has been. But having to wait another 8 years for me to import one from Japan is absolutely ridiculous. I'd rather get a 2002+ NSX that I can drive tomorrow!

Going back on-topic ... will be one of the first in the city to test drive a G37 (ie hook-up at the dealership). I am *this* close to putting a deposit down so I can order the colour/specs that I would want. I'm very torn ...

The non sport model does have th look, but if you see the bumper it doesn't have the pointy edges as the concept did.. instead to me its like a smily face.. oh well what can you say.. the day the car gets in toronto, i'll have a test drive of it... so lets see what happens...
