Its pretty interesting that Lexus has way less 'prestige' than BMW or Mercedes yet is the #1 luxury car company in the US.

If you're talking about selling statistics, Lexus will sell more "luxury" vehicles than MB or BMW because their models are at a lower price.

Excluding AMG and M models, this is where each model tops out.

Lower End
IS - mid $30,000's
3 series - high $40,000's
C class - high $40,000's

Middle Tier
GS - high $50,000's
5 series - mid $60,000's
E class - high $60,000's

Upper Tier
LS - low $70,000's
7 series - low $80,000's (unless going for 760i)
S class - low $100,000's (unless going for S600)

IS350 is a very nice car and if it's actually in the price range as the G then it'd be very hard to decide, but i think the IS350 will be a lil bit more than 40k

also, isn't the G35 almost due for a "redesign"? well mayb not a full redesign but it's due for some changes pretty soon..for mayb '07? I'd wait to see what infiniti has to offer on the next G35 then make a decision

guys, guys...I was making a point. I drive a 350Z...and have a 01 civic as my beater.... lol.... my point was people value different things.. a souped up civic with leather and some other amenities would be a better value then a TSX. VALUE is not an objective word.

That would have me looking at a TSX. Value is all about getting the qualities you prefer in a car at the lowest possible price.

IS350 will only be available with a sequential auto, with Paddle Shifters.
IS250 will have a 6-Spd manual, who know if it will make it up into the 350. . .

I believe G35 is to be updated in 07, when a real Skyline will reappear.

I wouldn't know what to do in this case, 6MT is what I want, but I don't like the G35 interior. . .

imo, the 02 TL looks really dated, not one car that I can honestly say been current with regards to styling.

The G35 coupe has the best resale going right now. Trust me, I know...

While on the whole, Lexus may have a better resale, I'd say the G coupe takes them all...

Just wait till the g35 gets redesigned. Do you really think infiniti will let lexus have the top spot when it comes to performance?

Its the number one selling brand because most lexus vehicles out there are SUVS and es330s. Also, lexus vehicles are alot cheaper than the competition. Most old people buy lexus because they are comfy and have a soft ride. My dad says he might get one.......when he turns 60. Till then, mercedes and bmw are the key players

You also have to remember that most LS's you see on the road dont have the ultimate luxury package which gives the 70k price tag. The LS's price is more like 56-60k. Way cheaper than the competition.

If you don't want nebulous comparisons, pick a baseline (i.e. $40K or more out-the-door transaction price average) and count the number of units sold on the annual basis at or above that threshold.

Everything else is kinda sketchy... because otherwise some marque could flood the market with base models (i.e. chintzy 2.5L Jag X-Type) and claim "#1 sales" -!

If selling price was what made luxury sales, then Acura and Infiniti would be 2nd and 3rd. Instead, I think the Lexus name has a lot to do with bringing the buyers in. Also, as Lexus rolls out its new line, new options including hybrid will take the prices even higher. The new GS can be priced into the low 60's. The new Is will run into the 40's etc. and I highly doubt sales will drop because of it.

G35 has more mods available for it and new IS will have little to none to begin w/. I do like the looks of the new IS though but I'd still get the G. I have the same engine in my Z and it just rocks.

A new CL? Whered you here that info? It would be great for acura to have a coupe like the CL again, but i doubt there are any plans for it. As for a TL Type S, i thought acura made it clear that there would be no more type-S's in the lineup except for the RSX. A-SPEC replaced the need for a type S model. Again, it would be great to see, but i doubt its going to happen.
