Formula Student Competition

I just got back from London where we had our formula student competition. We didn't finish because our car broke in the endurance race (but only 18 cars finished so we didn't do THAT poorly).

Here are some pictures. Keep in mind that the first time that the car drove under its own power was the brake test and the we didn't finish until 10 minutes before the drag race. Also, the clutch blew on the first run of the drag so we had to fix it and then run everything else.

I drove the acceleration test after it got fixed and got a decent 4.6 time (first time ive driven it). I have to say that its unbelivably fast and the best handling, most high strung thing I have ever touched.

thats them estinguishing our car that wasn't on fire...thanks guys

btw i have to say the track safety and fire was all UNBELIVABLY amature

Dood, that thing looks WICKED!!!!
What are the engine specs?
Any other specs you can give us would be cool too!!

Dont worry too much, it was your first time driving her.
You guys dont have a relationship yet. Once you get
more seat time in her, you guys will start to gel!!!

currently we are running a cbr600 f4 engine w/ high compression pistons and custom ecu. total weight is a heafty 500lb's dry w/o driver, so we are going to try to get that down. the ecu has no rev limiter as it stands so for acceleration we just did 9k rpm clutch dropps (which is about as slow as you can to just break the wheels free (ultra slicks)) and then it usually hooks up and we drive it till the power subsides a bit which is about 13.5k rpm's. i dont know what it revs to stock, but at 13.5 it sounds insane.

for other specs its a little tough as all suspension and frame and uprights and even bellcranks and rack are all custom made (either machined, welded in fixtures or CNC'ed), but i think a picture is worth a thoulsand words:
