Fog lights

I just ordered a set of angel eyes for my bmw. I want to get some fog lights that are bright and match. I currently put in 7000k nokyas, used them for a week and they match but are VERY dim. I was thinkin hids but told not to. Anyone have recommendations? Also looking for 194 led bulbs with built in resistors so the error wont come on my dash. I ordered license plates one and those hafve it built in. Hopefully u can help me. This is posted on the bmw but thought id get more feed back here.

Here are my suggestion to gain more light.

Change the foglight bulbs to a pair of Sylvania silver star Ultra bulbs, they are almost the same color as your stock HIDs but are 1.5 times brighter than halogen, DO NOT PUT HIDS IN FOG LAMPS.

Change the stock low/hi beam D2S bulbs. Currently BMWs have Osrams as standard HID bulbs which loose their intensity very rapidly. When they are new output is around 3200 lumens, after a couple of years when they have colorshifted output tends to be between 2500~2800 lumens from each bulb.

My suggestion is to switch to a set of Philips 85122+ bulbs, these are rated at 3400 lumens and are suppose to not loose their intensity over their life.

If you are looking for bluer bulbs then these are not for you since they are rated at 4250K.

Make sure you buy them new if you do decide on getting the Philips, a lot of ebay sellers will tell you that you are buying them new but usually they are all used.

Not if they are aimed properly.

Its about optics, as much as the kit makers try to replicate the position of the halogen filament in replica HID bulbs the HID arc just doesnt burn at the same angle/position in the bulb hence creating glare.

Also note, halogen lights cause glare as they are but it isnt noticable or bad enough to annoy on coming traffic but once you put 3 times brighter HID bulbs in the housing it would increase the glare 3 times hence there is your answer why not to go with kits.

7000k anything will look very dim -- they don't give off much useful light....they probably look quite blue-purple, if anything.

Don't get me wrong, I understand that there is glare when installing HIDs into a headlight that isn't designed for it, but all I'm saying is that you can cut down the amount of glare by aiming them low. Also, I'm not using 12000K bulbs here.
