I'm hoping to get a manual. We can both drive stick, and I enjoy the intimacy that you get with the car. Not to mention it's cheaper.
ive had the maxima for more than a year so far and no regrets at all
i paid $8k for my 2002 with 60k miles, car has 86k now and no issues at all

Just like the Mustang, the 300 is a car I could hardly justify without it's V8. I just prefer the 300C over the V6 version. However if the V6 is more than enough for you than give it a go. Beware not to get one that was used in a rental fleet.

Looked quickly on Autotrader for you in your area around your price range: here's a 300C V8 :

A page with all the V6's:

I'd still go with the 03+ Maxima SE personally.

^ thanks for looking, but the V8 is a bit out of my (our) price range.

Powerwise, i just want something that can get up and go without feeling like you're hurting the car (which is the case right now), as well as something that actually has enough power to pass.

I saw an 05 300C on craiglist for 9k CDN, but i don't really trust the condition of that car.

http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/tor/cto/830494900.html

what do you guys think of this? high mileage, yeah, but i won't have a problem with that if they're as reliable as you guys say they are.

my mom was looking at that generation malibu the other day, parked beside us at my aunt's place.

200k, with a mesh grille, cheap rims and a sub in the back, and the guy was asking 4 grand.

yeah, we're scheduled to meet a guy up in mississagua for a test drive. He has a 5.5g silver maxima, says he's selling it because he's getting a company car. 116k, asking $8k.

good luck, test drive multiple cars of the same make and model so you can tell what a "good Maxima/whatever" is like, etc.

Personally I'm the same as you, I couldn't stand driving a problem-free Civic every day, let alone a Cavalier with issues. Drive a bunch of cars, see what you like the most, and drive more examples of that car, then buy the best one for the best price.

I actually like the Charger/300, I drove a V6 Charger and it was actually pretty fun. But then again the Charger was slammed, literally no wheel gap

Subaru Legacy sedan? Maybe an old S4? What do you guys think about those cars?
I have a Subaru Legacy... Nice ride, sporty, 4 doors, AWD, safe, and you should be able to get one at a relatively low price. Oh, and they last a long time. Just keep the boxer motor tuned and you'll do just fine.

Hmm, I never thought of that. Good advice. Thanks.

how's the ride in those things? i sat in a Charger and in a 300 at the auto show and you can barely see outside. it's really annoying.

Hm, yeah, I'll look at some Legacy sedans as well. What about quality-wise? how is the interior?

I know when he mentioned the price i was just thinking "buddy who the hell do you think you're kidding, it's a freaking MALIBU, and an old one at that"

If i were buying the car myself i think i could go for a Malibu. they're pretty cheap, and fairly reliable.
