Finally made up my mind and got a new car!!!

Hi Everyone,
We got a new car for the wife last Friday. we had booked a 2012 TL SH-AWD Advance but changed our mind at the very last minute (Very sorry, I let you guys down). The TL was about $44k before tax&title and extended warranty. we were planning to put $15k down to get our payments under $630. But current economical crisis got us thinking and we decided not to break the cash reserve. We were looking at acura TSX but we decided not to buy something very similar to accord.

We test drove 2012 VW CC lux limited and that was it. We pulled the trigger. I am very much aware of VW's reliability issue but we thought that we should give it try. Its interior quality, fit and finish is way better than the accord imo. I am impressed with 2.0t motor. It's not the fastest in the segment but just feels faster....I don't know.DSG transmission is silky smooth.

We bought the car for $34000+tx&tl @ 2% finance. We also bought the 6yr/100k miles extended warranty for $1500. Ended up putting $7000 (almost half of what i was planning to put for a TL) in a down payment.

We wanted a white one but there was a 1 month wait. So, we bought the Urano Grey. (We could have gotten Black but we already have one and it's a pain in the A** to keep it sharp lookin).

Anyways, I rear ended a SUV couple of weeks ago. My accord was in the shop and I just got it back last week. They did a terrific job on it. Feels like new, looks like new and runs like new (Not to mention I've put 60k miles on it in 3 years).

Here are some picsI apologize for the cell phone quality pics)

Congrats! I love the CC

My mom & dad were shopping the CC luxlim and TL awd tech last year, they loved both but the acura dealer made an unbelievable offer that they couldn't refuse.

I agree. I wanted a coupe (A5). Wife wouldn't agree on buying another coupe(We have a 2008 Accord Coupe) just because of the inconvenience of getting in and out . But everything ended well. We got a 4 door coupe. At least me or her won't be in the back seat for sure.

One of the best looking sedans out there. Congrats! I considered a pre-owned one myself with a 6mt but I wanted something a little faster out of the gate, so that's why I ended up with the Mazdaspeed6. All the best luck with it!

I looked at the 2012 Toureg. It's a sexy SUV imo. Baby Cayenne......I just got married and not planning for kids any time soon. But when I do, I will look in to those for sure..............they r kinda pricey though.

Always like the looks of the CC. The rear end is kind of weird, but overall-nice car. Didn't realize you could get in to one of those so inexpensively...

Great car. Just make sure you take it to the dealership when you need to replace the battery. My co-worker drives one and I helped him change the battery. PITB getting to the bolt that ultimately releases the battery from it's compartment. On top of that the power steering (electrical) went out as a result of the battery change and had to be reset by the dealership. The dealership was going to charge my co-worker for the reset because he changed the battery himself and this is something they have do when they replace the battery. Fortunately they were not able to reset the power steering (for some reason) and had to install some part under warranty to be able to reset it.

I know you never know when your battery is going to go, but just a heads up just in case you have to disconnect your battery for whatever reason one day.

Yes Sir..........Those are value for money......At one point, We looked at the Audi A4 Avant and to tell you the truth.....CC are on par with A4s.

I think the rear end makes it look unique. If they put a BMW or Merc or Audi logo on it, They can sell it for $45k....Lol

Thanks for your compliments man.

Very nice pickup. I really like them, but only seating 4 kind of rules it out for me. My first two vehicle purchases have to seat 5 minimum. Car#3, OTOH...

That's a sharp car. I parked next to one yesterday and was impressed by the look. What are your initial thoughts on the driving experience? Pickup, ride quality, interior comfort, road noise, etc. compared to other "more luxurious" sedans? Compared to the Accord?

So far it's been just one week but ride quality is on par with B8 audi A4. I am coming from the Accord (The worse when it comes to road noise) and it feels like dead silence when driving CC. Ride quality is in between the sport and luxury car I believe. It's comfortable but still one can feel the road when need to.

Pick up is good enough for get up and go. I am still in d break -in period and haven't hit the redline yet but DSG does its job.......although I have heard that there is a big turbo lag in ccs compared to Audi but hey it's 8 grand cheaper than the equally equipped audi....Seats are comfy and keep you in place......they don't offer real leather even in the highest 2.0t trim which I have.......but leatherette is not bad either.......most of us won't be able to tell that its not a real leather. .......The only trim that comes with the real leather is the VR6 4motion which I wanted in the first place but could not find it in the whole south region.

Compared to Accord......actually there is no much of a comparison. Yes., Accord can't be beat in the reliabilty department and mine does have a V6 power but with 2.0t motor, you won't miss v6 at all.it's as luxurious as Audi or Lexus IS or Lexus ES (I wouldn't call 3-series interior luxurios..Not for me atleast). Lots of features. Actually the sales person went over all the features and it took him about 1 hour. When I purchased my honda it was like sign the papers and leave....Horrible. VW service is top notch compared to Honda.

I thought that Honda/Acuras dash layout with 100k buttons is the best and I won't like anything besides it but the touch screen nav in vw blew my mind. infact one will not need to touch the screen at all......u can do it by voice commands and the computer screen mounted in the speedometer console (Even it shows navigation if you have the main nav screen off or music display shown on the main nav screen).

So far I love it.........Haven't had a taste of VWs bitter reliability but both of us (Me and my wife) drive like old lady (and we are in our late 20s). I hope it lasts longer.Fingers crossed( I bought 100k miles warranty though.Just a piece of mind and i've heard that they have gotten better in the reliability department).

Thanks for the honest comparo.

How many Honda dealers have you had that treated you like that? Not saying your experience isn't valid, but it sounds to me like you went to either a poorly managed dealer, or got a the shaft on a salesman. You could walk into a restaurant and get the most experienced, polite waiter there, or you could get the newest, douchiest one. That (probably) shouldn't determine your outlook on the restaurant though.

I am really not trying to derail the thread, and I am glad you got good service at VW. Customer service means A LOT to me so I do understand. Enjoy it. Let us know if anything breaks; here's to hoping you don't get a chance to.

Exactly. I was pointing out the Honda dealership where I bought my car. I went there and the car was ready for me but he didn't go over warranty or service schedule or any of the features in the car. Nothing against all Honda dealerships....Just that or just that sale person... I get my car serviced at the Honda dealership by my apartment it's excellent....They even give me a loaner and my car is out of warrenty.

CC + 10k in the pocket >>> TL all day, everyday.

Still cant believe the TL is pushing 44k. Maybe im getting old, and inflation is catching up to me, but ive always viewed the TL as a "just a wink over 30k" type of car (at least in base form).

not sure what you mean here?

The TL-SHAWD starts @ ~$39k and the VR6 4motion starts @~$40k, I compare those two models because the are both V6 and all wheel drive.

The base TL (FWD) is about $36k and the base CC is about $28k

CC is a tad bit smaller than the TL. The passat is closer in size but much further in price @ ~$33k (with no 4motion opt). Comparing them all is weird, almost like they are in the same class, but not meant to compete at all.

Still love the CC styling though, Good choice OP. Pretty sure that gray is what I would have picked if I were in your shoes.

You are right. I think CC and TSX are in the the same segment. Not the TL. TL has got more power than the 2.0t and the VR6 4motion. I really like the 4g tl and I almost bought it but somewhere in some corner of mind I was like nah.....it;s not the one.....It's like all the pretty women I dated and my wife......from the first date I knew that she is the one and then there was no turning back.

Anyways.....My wife drives it to work. Her Hospital where she works is 25 miles each way and her route is Highway(Most of it). She uses cruise control (65 miles/hr) almost all the way and she has been averaging 38 mpg............My jaw dropped when I saw that in the trip computer. I hope numbers are right.

Wow I had no idea you could get the CC for TSX pricing...great pick up though. Liked the CC when it first came out. It's one of the newer cars that gets me to do a double take to check it out again. Do you have the one where the rearview camera flips open from the emblem in the back? Saw that in the commercial hahah.
