i LOVE it! Its the freshest new car design i've seen in awhile. I love how they keep the side gills. Those tires are massive.

are they ANY #'s at all out yet on it?

that car is just way too hot, yeah the e55 maybe a more classy and subtle but the m5 is just a full blown out sports sedan...
i respect the m5 lots more cause its n/a....

sorry guys but this car will destroy the e55 in ANY performance category

I'd hold off on this statement until the performance figures come out. You probably may be right, but the E55 is just sick in a straight line... It has monster torque, which I doubt the M5 will surpass.

your right, but i think the m5 is gonna have a 7 speed manual, trq shouldnt be a problem coming from a v-10

sure its proly 10x easier to launch the benz so if some one w/ a e55 runs a m5 with a so -so driver his advantage will be to get em off the line...

Overall I agree, but I'm curious to see if MB does anything with the E55 in 05 to improve all around performance (handling and braking department particularly). Since they very much know what's coming from BMW at this point.

1SICKLEX.......not sure what the future will bring. Only if I narrowed it down to one car could I consider the M5 or some other perf. sedan (if I were smart that's what I would do). Like many automotive enthusiasts though, my wants change on a frequent basis.

I don't think so. The new m5 will have a 7 speed SMG. All u do is smash the gas and go. or u can use the launch control.

I think the E55 is a better looking car than the M5 is, but without a doubt (unless BMW completely fucks up)....it will be a much better driving car in all departments.

Now THAT's hott! I'd rock that any day of the week, I just think that it is such a classy looking design. I just hope that MB improves the handling/brakes, like Beltfred said, because if they don't they are going to have some serious competition from BMW. I think that the new M5 looks alright, although I think it lacks the more aggressive stance that differenciated the E39 530 from the E39 M5. Judging from the pictures, I think that it will take a really keen eye to differenciate the new M5 from a standard issue 545. Hopefully they look more aggressive in person. With the E39's, even my girl can determine an M5 from a 540.

BTW, if I had a choice I'd go with either E55 (brand loyalty, love their cars) or the RS6, or an E39 M5

Because N/A engines that make that much power are just about unusable for daily driving. Ever driven a 500HP N/A car before?

You can get better gas mileage and better daily drive-ability /w boost.

The new 5 series is completely ugly -- in photos and in person.

I'd rock it! Replacing the wheels would be first on the list though!

Either one is for a select few people. BMWs stranglehold on sports sedans/cars has loosened recently. The competitors have caught up after many years of half-assing it or playing left field.

Will this new M5 be so dominant as the last one?

I have much respect for the M5, but I liked the previous one better. Although I do like the rear shot of the new style.
E55 wins in terms of looks. Still an awesome car though
