I've never really warmed to the mid engined Ferraris, but do very much live the 308/328 series. They still represented the "Italianess" of the marque. After that, and I know many will hate me for this, the mid engined cars became almost too "Japanese" for my tastes.
I agree. I like the front engine Ferrari's more myself. I used to love the 550 Maranello and my new favorites are the 599 GTOs'/GTB's. They have more class IMO.

I had this die-cast model of a 1957 growing up, so I've always had a thing for Testarossas...

And the iconic Testarossa from my middle school days will probably always be my favorite, although it does look a little dated now-a-days...

Found out a man in DFW now has a SA Aperta. Was at C&C last weekend, & hopefully comes out to one of our Boardwalk events.

I like the 70's/80's mid-engine Ferrari's and most of the recent cars. A friend has a 328GTB, always fun to get a ride in. Never driven one, but maybe one day.

Never been a fan of the Enzo or F50, very awkward in the styling.

Also a great fan of their racing cars as well

Can't put my finger on it but the "vintage" Ferraris are just so beautiful, so inspiring, yet not over the top. Newer F cars are beautiful as well but they just don't speak to me the way the "old boys" do.

The '61 Cali Spyder sold for more than 10 Million.

Ahh...to be rich.

this thread is fantastic and depressing, at the same time.

it's motivational and leaves an emptiness in my soul, at the same time.

I need to own a Ferrari.

every year on a Sunday in August they do this Ferrari Festival downtown Chicago. I'm so glad I happened to remember to check on that (thanks to this thread) - it's next Sunday! Here are some photos from the 2005 event. I didn't go last year because it was too hot but I think this year I will have to!

There are too many for me to list. I like every car they have ever produced, some better than others. Though the new 599 and 458 are sex.

You have no idea how many times i watch this vid just to get that chill and tingle down my spine. That is the craziest sounding car ever! I i would give both nuts to have one of those just to start up and rev the engine in my garage every day.

AUTOS: Ferrari To Debut Italia Spider
Convertible version of the 458 supercar set to appear next month at Frankfurt Motor Show; folding hard-top roof expected.
Viknesh Vijayenthiran | http://motorauthority.com | Posted August 08, 2011 Maranello (ITA)

Ferrari's new 458 Italia helped raise the automaker's sales during the past year, and a top-down Spider version will be revealed in September. (Photo: Ferrari)

The next couple of years are going to be tremendously busy for Ferrari as the automaker, already at record sales levels, prepares for the launch of a raft of new models.

The first of these will be the long-awaited 458 Spider, the convertible version of the stunning 458 Italia supercar. The car is tipped to receive a new automated folding hard-top in lieu of its predecessor’s canvas soft-top, giving owner’s the best of both worlds.

It’s scheduled to make its debut at this September’s 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show before going on sale in Europe that same month. U.S. sales should start early next year.

The 458 Spider will get the same 570 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque 4.5-liter V8 found in the hard-top, though could be slightly slower due to the extra weight required for its folding roof mechanism and chassis strengthening.

Due next year will be the replacements for the 599 GTB Fiorano and Enzo supercar. While we’ve seen spy shots of test mules for the 599 successor, not much is known about the car that will be Ferrari’s next flagship.

The Enzo successor is reportedly being called the F70 within Ferrari and is being tested with two very different powertrains. One option is a smaller twin-turbo V8 engine said to be outputting around 700 horsepower and the other is a V12 unit with an additional 50 to 100 horsepower.

While there were claims that Ferrari would go the V8 route, it now looks as though the automaker will stick with a V12 for its flagship. Expect plenty of active aerodynamics on this model and a significantly lighter curb weight than the already lithe Enzo.

Moving to 2013, Ferrari will launch a facelifted version of its California as well as the highly anticipated 458 Scuderia race car. This model will be quicker than the regular 458 Italia and will borrow a number of elements from the hardcore 458 Challenge race car.

Look for new gear ratios and a more tightly calibrated tune for the 458’s seven-speed dual clutch transmission. There should also be stiffer suspension, uprated brakes, stickier rubber and a lighter chassis.

My boy has had a deposit on the 458 Spyder for the past couple years. Somewhat long delay between coupe and Spyder. Looks really good with the hardtop vert.

rough prices... clockwise from top left...

288 Evoluzione: $1.2-1.5m (base)
FXX: $2m (base)
F50 GT: very rare, I'm seeing as high as $5m
F40 LM (pretty sure its an LM): $800k-$1m+

old photo, these very likely go for much more than that now -

here's a video I took myself in 2003 at Road America... it's Jean Alesi's 1994 F1 car. can you imagine standing right there, I cannot even begin to describe it to you. the video is a good representation, though.

edit: it's not solely an azine meet so it wont be out of place. our meet is at a local get together that has all types of exotics. lambos n ferraris are fairly common so i won't be 'that guy' rolling up.

remembered a story related to this.. in the 90's, MJ had a black 512TR. and I remember there was a black 512TR that used to park in a garage downtown that had the plates "NOT MJ". I'm guessing he got tired of people following him around trying to see if it was MJ.
