But yeah...I loved my 3rd gens (accord and prelude) and their pops up.

I think pop ups also had issues getting frozen during winter. Thats why i heard they stopped making them.

I never had an issue with that in either of mine.

AND...honda made a button that would flip the headlights up even if they are off....so you could leave them up during snow/ice storms.

Definitely the 4th gen, but thats basically because that was my last car. It was fun tho, i had the H22 swap and a ton of other mods to it, so i loved the car. Nice clean lines as well. thats just my oppinion tho . . .

I have to confess the obvious: powertrainwise, the 7G rules. I would have been much happier with a K24A than an F23A in my 99 Accord.

the K24A IMO is one of the best N/A 4 banger's out there, powerful for an N/A 4cyl yet very refined.

5th gen. That was my brothers last car. The odometer stopped for about 30k miles until he hit the dash really hard one day and it worked fine. The odometer showed 130k miles on it when he sold it.

Gen 3 all the way, did love the Gen 4 too. But I owned an 89 for 9 years, and I loved the styling of it. Hands down one of the best, especially tricked out.

My first car was a 2nd gen Accord...what a wonderful little car. As far as favorites tho, I pick the 5th generation just because that's the car before they split the Accord by markets and it looked very different from the cookie cutter family sedans out at the time. 6th gen would have looked fine if it wasn't so bulky looking...compared to the JDM and Euro market Accord at the time, I would have gladly taken one of those instead.

I think it was the 4th gen that was the last accord before they spilt the market. The 5th genish accords I saw in England look more based off the US civic.

Anyhow, the 5th gen Euro-Accord looked different, but I believe it was the 6th gen Accord that was given credit for a dynamic platform for different markets. Besides, our 5th gen Accord looked like the JDM Accord still and every market had the same coupe and station wagon...

Since we have a lot of past Accord owners, which gen has the best quality. I nominate the 6th gen for NOT having the best quality.

I think the 3rd gen had the best quality, my folks bought their 88 Accord Lx-i new and it lasted them until 99, when they traded in the 88 Accord with 133,000 miles on it for a 99 Accord.

The only problems the 88 Accord had was eventual rust near the wheelwells and the brake gave my folks and me problems after the car turned 8 yrs old.

The 99 Accord Ex on the other hand, there was that recall problem with the ignition switch where I got stalled almost luckily after trying 5 times the car restarted again, the catalytic converter wore out prematurely, and the heater stopped working right before I traded it in with 94,000 miles in 2003.

Ironically, the 88 Accord was assembled in Marysville, Ohio cause the vin started with a "1" while the 99 Accord was assembled in Japan, which had a vin starting with a "J". So, I'm not sure if the term "Made in Japan" is really good quality anymore, but I have the TSX now and it's 100% Japanese made.

I understand that some of the 6th gens were manufactured in Japan, although the VAST majority were assembled at the Marysville Ohio assembly plant.

My personal favorite Accord (other than the Acura TL) is the H22A powered Honda Accord SiR model. (Another LINK )

Hey I just saw the poll again, who was the only person who voted for Gen 1 Accord as their fav? No one still has picked Gen 2, I guess no one likes that Accord generation at all.

Which Gen Accord do you think was the bestselling one? I vote for the 4th gen or 6th gen.

the Accord bodies have been built in Marysville since like the late 70s(sorry can't tell you exact year)
now the Motors were American made sometime in the late 80's and still today the motors are American made.

before the late 80's they were what we at the Anna plant call "pass through" motor. meaning it came over from Japan usually by ship. then trucked to our shipping yard. then we repack it and send it to marysville.

That's how I felt too. But I can see why Honda didnt do it as I imagine there might have been a couple of conflicts resulting in intra-Honda cannablization; mainly a 200hp H22A powered Accord coupe versus the 5G Honda Prelude versus the 200hp V6 powered Accord Coupe. (Although I'd easily prefer the Lude out of that trio.)

Ultimately, the SiR-T and Euro Type-R have evolved into the new Euro/JDM Accord.....aka Acura TSX. So I guess, better late than never.

It probably would have been a sales failure as the Accord is intended as a high volume midsized family sedan that competes with the Altima, Taurus and Camry. As such, family car buyers would probably deem it too small for their needs.

Like it or not, the bloated ones (6G and 7G) have sold pretty well.

I love the 6G and don't consider that one bloated at all. On the other hand, you can see the bloatedness of the 7G well

I bought my first one in 1980, brand new four-door gen1. Cute little car, but later gens were improved in ways that made them even better imo. I'm sort of indefinite/torn about my vote for the gen 4, but I chose that because imo they are just getting too big ...for an Accord.

5th gen for me. First Accord generation to wear a V6 badge, and it was my first car. It had good curved styling, unlike its boxed 4th gen precursor and even its squared 6th gen predecessor. Although now, I own the 2nd gen TL-S, but this [A]-box looks better than its [H]-box cousin.
