Do it! Another thing to point out, is that I've noticed a fairly large amount of E39 M5 owners who switched to E60 M5s didn't like them and kept wanting to go back. The E60 is faster and more powerful but wasn't near as balanced, raw nor trouble-free as the previous model.

Very nice ride. Saw a blue E39 M5 on I-75 today, they look that much better in person!

Paid $33,800 ... it has 35,000 miles and came with around 6k worth of engine intake & exhaust modifications and other goodies.

Yea the color is Sterling Grey, I didnt know it was rare though ... the car is great ! It has a ton of modification already done, Im waiting on the folder with the history on the car. I get that monday and will be able to see everything added besides the obvious things like intake and exhaust.

bmw actually made a bunch of videos at that time. i.e. one for the z4, 530i, z8, etc...
they're all on you tube but the e39 m is the best one by far if you ask me.

The poor man's choice is the 540i 6MT (with the M handling package).

I'd kill for an M5, but I'd die paying to keep it up over here.

I test drove a 540iM 6 speed prior to purchasing the M5 and I thought it was a GREAT car. Felt a tad quieter in general but it would have been my second choice. The V8 pulls pretty hard for what it and like the E39M5 it's becoming a rare sight nowadays.

I test drove one back in '05 and really loved it. I think it was an '02. Couldn't get myself to spend $45k on a car about to go off warranty. Ended up getting a new '05 CTS-V instead since I love to mod my cars. The M5 mods are too few and too expensive for the power gains you get. If you think the e39 M5 has some kick, try a supercharged CTS-V!
