A family collection of cars

So I took some pics of the cars in my family collection. This is just the first set of pics, I still have the rest of the cars to take pics of. Thought you might enjoy these. I think I want to make the point of this thread to show that not all Acura owners just own one car. Make no mistake about it, these are a family collection not my personal collection. My father, brother and myself have made this a life long adventure.

Ok here goes..

1966 427 Cobra replica (with 427) hanging above a 1974 Detomaso Pantera.

Next up is a 59 Fairlane 500 retractable hardtop (Skyliner)

My favorite of all is this guy. 1967 GT development GT40

2005 T-Bird hanging with a 2009 Shelby GT500

Shelby on his own

1970 Mach1 Mustang

This one is a garage overview

I have a bunch more coming it just takes some time to un cover them and get to some of them. Hope you enjoy!

No they like I stated are a Family collection. It is in no way just credited to me. My dad is the big invester in the big $ cars. We are all on board as far as adding more rides and the maintenence program that goes along with taking care of all of them. That is just a few of them. I will be posting more of them later.

Here are a few more pics, these guys live with me lol

This one is a 1957 T-Bird with 18k original miles.

Below it lives a 1966 Mustang GT

In front is a 1967 Fairlane 500 Ranchero

Now we get to the cars that still need some love to hang with the others.

1986 Mustang SVO drag car 472ci. bigblock

1965 Mustang GT fastback ( my brothers first car)

These two are up for restoration they been sitting for a while. 1966 Ford F-150 and a 1960 Falcon.

That's quite a collection. The '86 SVO was originally a 2.3 turbo car, wasn't it? Don't see too many of those around.

yes it was. It was tranformed into a race car for some good reasons.

1 5 lug wheels
2 top of the line suspension
3 all wheel disc brakes
4 4 link suspension
5 goes much faster with a big block in it lol

Some nice stuff. What can you tell me about the "development" '67 GT40? Was it used for replica production purposes? It's exterior is unlike the actual road-going Mark III GT40s or the later Mark IVs.

Nice collection! I'm going to be the weird one and say that out of all those cars, I would go for the Pantera.

GT development was located in England. It was assembled there for the purpose of being right hand drive. The car is a legit GT40 with race history it is not a bigblock motor it is a 289 Hi Po. The mark IV is the bigblock version and yes it looks totally different.

Cool! The car has some different styling cues. I'd like to know more about it if I may. The Mark II also had the seven litre, and looks similar to your father's car.

Where was the car raced or campaigned? Do you recall who drove it? Colours? Again, not trying to sound overly prying, but I'm a bit of a buff of early sixties racing Fords and find any history fascinating.

Awesome collection! And not just the cars, I love the old service signs and antiques. I don't know if you've ever checked out American Pickers on The History Channel, but they pick and sell lots of old car related signs and oil cans. Anyway, kind of off topic, but I was reminded of the show when I was checking out your photos.

The GT40 is just plain amazing. I'd love to hear more about it's racing history and how your dad came across it, that is if you'd like to share.

EDIT: Terry beat me to it! Should've known lol.

dad drives a newer F-150

Mom drives a 2010 Fusion

Brother drive a 2010 Ram

Wifey drive her first new car a 2003 grand am (can't stand it)

I drive a 2007 Acura TL type-s

As far as putting info out on the Internet not to worried about it. My wife works for a vid surveillance manufacturer. between the cams, alarm system and My faithful pitbull Max I think we will be ok. I do thank you for your concern though.

It is gaurdsman blue with white stripes. I don't remember all the details but I will find out tomorow from my dad. We have owned the car for at least 15 years and I need to re-check all the details. I will get back to you on it though. It is good to see all the interest. These cars don't go out much and are kind of lost in time. That is why I wanted to share the pics.

You have no idea the extent off it. My Dad has more trinkets and promos than I have ever seen in my life. I told him to start filling my garage with the extra lol

Ya know it is a double edged sword. They have to be run to be maintained but the risk is beyond words. They mostly get trailered to shows. We have an enclosed trailer and an open one. Who wants to be the one to tell dad that one of the cars got a dent in it or even worse wrecked. We treat the cars more as art than as runners. These rides are in original condition, with the age they are at you just can't send them off to be fixed. Paint will never match lol.

I understand. When I first bought my mustang to restore I was pretty sure it would only be driven around my parents driveway. In college my daily crapped out on me and I had to use the mustang. I didn't have a choice at the time. Although I had it repainted a slightly different color it is a pain to match. It also doesn't help that the guy who did the paint work since died and didn't write down what he used.

I'd love to have a garage looking like your family's.

Hahahahah look closely my freind. if you look close the GT40 is sitting on a ramp like device. lol the ramp is on rollers and moves to the left of the door or the right. It is so simple to move the car my mom can push it over lol

This was also taken into consideration when we built my garage. We decided to go deep instead off wide.

yeah all i was saying is that you can't just push/drive it out like the others, you have to remove cars first.
not like you'd need a ramp anyways... there are those go jacks or whatever they are called that jack the wheels up and act as dollies to move the car
...so, my other question...annual mileage on the gt40, cobra and pantera? just a rough estimate, or how many times they go out for drives
don't get me wrong, i'm all for having cars instead of paintings or other types of art... but with cars like that, i'd love to drive them too, especially if you don't drive supercars everyday

Lol i understand what your saying. They probably each get about 50 to 75 miles a year on all cars. We like to run a tank through them each year. The GT40 has 2 tanks so it does become a problem. you also have to remember where I live. We only get a few good months to play. Put rain in that factor and you should be able to see that it is a few a far between thing. We are all conservative on miles being put on the cars.
