Escort 8500 and 8500 X50 ??

I currently have both of our cars hardwired for my Escort 8500 (with the little phone jack style connector). I only have the 8500 right and switch between the cars depending on which one I'm driving.

Well, the wife got pulled over today in the "other" car and I've devided to get an 8500 X50(blue). I'm going to put old 8500(red) into her car and the 8500 X50(blue) into the TL to match the interior color.

Here's my potentially dumb question:
Are the power wires/connections exactly the same for the regular 8500 AND the 8500 X50? I'm going to run out tonight and pick one up if I know I can just plug in right into my hardwire. They both look like the phone jack type. I just want to know if they are exactly the same.

Sweet. Thanks

I actually just completed ordering it (decided to do it online and save +/-$70 vs. the $344 Best Buy wants). I think I got a great deal on the blue one for $277.90. Everywhere else seemed to have them around $339 to $344.

This blue x50 was actually cheaper then the plain old red 8500. Go figure!

I've been using my 8500 for at least the past 5 years. In that time, I've logged around 150k miles with it (between 3 cars). Many of those miles were on the open road at very "ticketable" speeds. The 8500 has saved my ass more times than I can count.

In that period I have received exactly $0 in fines and 0 points against my license.

Actually, it saved my ass just yesterday (01-22-07) in northern MA. By the time I passed the sneaky MHP hiding behind a bush under a bridge, I was going a smooth 65.

I'm a big fan of the products made by Escort and see no need for the silly arrows on the V1 and the extra $130.

I got it at overstock.com. Just looked today and it looks lke it may be back up to $307. When I ordered it, it showed up as $307 at first, but after clicking through a few of the "Checkout" screens, they applied another $30 discount (that additional discount was applied to any orders over $250).

I first went through a "coupon" site which shows an Overstock.com promotion for $30 off any purchase of $250 or more. That should be good until 1-31-2007. So, you may have to find a site which shows the $30 promotion first to get the blue x50 for the $277 price I mentioned above.

That is about my sentiment with regard to my Solo S2, with my only gripe being battery life.
