ok so my friends car gave these codes on his car for the CEL, im trying to find out what they have to do with and what needs to be done to have them taken care, any type of help will help me out a lot thank you


p1486 - range/performance in thermostat

i can't tell u what the other 2 are but when u have a leak in the evap system there is a leak somewhere (in a connector hose for example) in the system that expels the wasted engine gases through the car and out through the exhaust. if u can't pinpoint where it is u have to get a test where the mechanic would blow smoke through the system and see where it is leaking, i think. *ppl often get this code if they forget to shut their gas cap*

p1486 looks like u have a bad thermostat...just a guess. were u guys working on the car? if so, that makes it easier to pinpoint where something went wrong. otherwise, bring the car into the dealership, they know how to deal with this stuff although it might cost ya.

yea see we werent working on the car his car just through out codes and the car started smelling real bad like a rh but worse
