Britman? Gertish? It's a Mini

Used the Exploder ramps for the MiniBus on Saturday. The handy bottle jack jack stands I bought, are about an inch too tall to fit under the framerails of the Exped
Only got the oil changed, still need to rotate tires, but may just run it to Discount Tire on Saturday morning & have them do it. Guess I'll need to get a couple 2x10 'pads' to pull up on, to get the clearance to fit the jacks under the framerails if I want to DIY.
That said, the Fumoto made it a breeze. Had to find some tubing, as it's pointed almost directly at the swaybar bushing [turns out it wouldn't have gone that far], and am probably going to make some modifications to the undertray.
Add a hole big enough to reach in & open the valve, and permanently fix the tubing to it, so I don't have to remove it again.

Due to some changes in our budget, the Explorer will be going away.
My dad has had this Cooper idle at his house for a little over a year. Short version, it was on dealer plates & had no title. He just wanted it gone.
Went through the bonded title process & have a title in my name now & it's registered & road legal.
2010 Cooper Cabio in triple Hot Chocolate [body/roof/interior]
Not bad for a free car. Needs a new top, the rear window glass has separated from the fabric across the top & a few attempts to re-bond it haven't been successful.
Also needs an amp for the HK stereo. Due to the gap from the rear window, there was some water intrusion & it killed the amp [under the driver's seat].
Otherwise, everything seems to work well & it drives great, even if it's an auto.

Cool! Those are pretty fun, a friend of mine had one, I only rode in it, but it felt like a go kart from the passenger seat.
bummer about the blown amp and I hope sorting the rear glass won’t be too difficult.

S2000 had the robbins top separate at the glass seam twice on me already...put her in the garage once you get that fixed, supposedly the sun cooks the glue.
My gf has a 2025 Cooper S and man, I can see why people are crazy for them, they are fun as shit to drive. Waiting for H&R to make sport springs for the newest
model, that, some spacers and a sway bar and it'll be the Italian Job in South Florida for sure!
Enjoy it in good health!

Yeah, mine isn't an S, and it's an auto. But it's a pretty nimble little car & good enough commuter shitbox
Was looking at Robbins for a replacement top, it's a pretty big price difference over an OE top.

Ordered the first batch of parts to start getting this kart back in order.
Mostly trim bits for now, and the park override release. Will be nice to have cupholders & a charge port again.
Still <$1k into it, but have a few pricier repairs on the horizon [new top, FRM replace/recode, and HK amp replacement]

Fuck that...with such a pain in the ass install...
brand new or nothing.
My top is GAHH, which was high end German but Robbins ended up buying it...they had an issue with the adhesive during Covid which was why the last one
failed so fast. I had also put a car cover on and the guy told me that that probably made it happen faster by trapping moisture. It's in a garage now...I paid $1000
in labor but they guy hooked it up and pulled strings and got me the top under warranty a SECOND time so it was worth it to me.

That's the plan, beater shitbox commuter that actually fun to drive.
Long-term, my oldest will be driving in 2 years, so if it's still kicking along it'll go to her, wifey gets something new & I'll take the MiniBus [Expedition]

being devils advocate here, but you sure you want your kiddo in a 15 year old mini? Wife and I had that discussion, our daughter is 15 and we have a 2011 Odyssey or a 2008 TL, and we both feel like newer cars have come a long way in occupant safety and for that reason we wouldn’t pass down either of those 2 cars to her. If I have to choose between my wife or daughter getting the beater, easiest decision, it’s the wife

SOURCE????
Kidding.
I did see on the forum some folks having pretty unfortunate incidents on the road in their 3g TL and they came out well considering. So yes, it’s certainly safer than a much newer Mitsubishi Mirage.
With that said, and without any evidence to back my claim at the moment, my assumption is that a 2024 accord would fair better in a collision than my 08 TL-s.

Picked up a misfire while out of town for work/F1 last week.
Code reads as a cyl 4 misfire. Seems to go away over 3k RPM. Made the 200 mile drive home interesting. As long as I was over 75mph it ran fine, but in 6th under 75 it dips under 3k & gets a miss. It took over an hour to get out of the COTA parking lot on Friday, so I just sat & watch everyone idle, not moving, and let it clear up before getting on the road.
Have a spare set of coils, planning on swapping cyl 4 & see what happens.
