I'm right there with you. When I went to look at the 18 XLT, that was a huge turnoff for me. I told him to get me a lease on the remaining 17's, or swap the tailgate on the 18'.
I looked at XLT, a STX.... I even looked at the 63k F-150 just to see what it was all about.... King Ranch? I think.

Yeah, it doesn't take much to push the F150 into prices. A high end XLT will be pushing $50k. You get into the Platinum/Limited/Raptor & can easily get close to $70k.
The F450 above is ludicrous by comparison, price-wise.
Not sure if it's an issue, but got a recall notice on my truck, but they have the wrong VIN listed. Probably for the first truck we started to deal on, then switched. Will have to check when I pick mine up. Guessing they didn't change the VIN on the paperwork when we bought the 2nd truck

Sunroof track replaced. Sounded like it was eating itself the last time I closed it. It has rattled since I bought it, think it's from the 2 panes rubbing on each other. SA claims that's resolved as well. We'll see, as my commute takes me over a rough road that makes it sound like a box of rocks in the truck.

Sit rep: Still broken.
You'd think that since they had it for almost a week, they'd have been sure it was fixed, since they had it 'completed' in just over a day.
Current status is that the tilt function works properly, which it did before taking it in. But, now, when trying to open the sunroof, it gives a quite loud pop as the front pane lowers to slide back.
SA was surprised & said she'd get a loaner approved, taking it back in tomorrow 7AM.
But hey, the tailgate is back in proper alignment.

Dropped it off this morning & they put me in a 2018 F150 STX. The 10 speed works really well, but you have to get it up to nearly 70mph to get it into 10th gear. I think it's the 3.5EcoBoost, but not sure, it drives similar to my 2.7, but feel a little more 'laggy'.
The STX is actually really similar to my XLT, just missing a few features.
They plan to have the roof fixed today, so we'll see.

STX has the column shifter, but still has the full floor console. Has an extra storage pocket next to the cupholders where the XLT floor shifter would be. Not all XLTs have the floor shifter though, I know the Sport does, but some 302A (highest trim XLT) still have the column
STX also doesn't have the sliding rear window or roof storage console. Cheaper plastics, vinyl instead of leather covered console & steering wheel. But it does have 20" wheels (same as the King Ranch but in solid silver instead of 2 tone) & Michelins over the 18" & Kumhos on my XLT.
I think the STX package gets you close to the XLT Sport without some of the convenience features. Biggest thing to me is the lack of a power seat, I feel like I sit so high, since I keep my seat at the bottom. Most of the rest could pretty easily be added with a bit of $$ & ForScan.

Just got a call from the SA. She opened with "I hope you're sitting down".
Part is on national back order. She expected me to be pissed. Not her fault, nor the dealer.
NBG, as long as the roof doesn't leak. Just have to not open the roof until the parts come in.

Not really upset, we're getting into cooler weather, so unlikely that the roof would be getting much open time anyway.
Going to be clear that I expect to be in a loaner again when the parts do arrive. In total, this will be 7 days so far that they've had the truck, with an unknown amount of days required yet for the repair.

Well, I talk a lot of shit...I'm very patient...
i worked in claims and customer service and unless you have a concise end game, there's really no need to bring out the big guns unless you like high blood pressure and spinning wheels.
Ain't nobody got time for that.

They're a pretty low pressure dealer, for being a big as they are (their website show just over 1k F150s in stock, but I assume that means in transit as well). On the sales, service & quick lube ends, all have been a good experience for me so far.

No, nothing like that. Still love the truck, just not so much the sunroof.
Can't really think of anything that I would've done differently if I were buying the same truck again. Maybe spring for the BLIS & LED taillights, but that's about it.

Only big exterior differences are the headlights/taillights, grille, front bumper, side steps & tailgate.
Interior is practically unchanged apart form the 10 speed & a few extra driving modes. '16 only has Normal, Tow/Haul, Sport. '18 gets Normal, Tow/Haul, Sport, Eco, Snow/Wet.

I like the front end, but can't stand the non-LED taillights & not a fan of the embossed F-150 in the tailgate.
The STX stickers for about $10k less than my XLT.

Going in tomorrow for round 3 of sunroof repair.
Backordered parts came in finally. Hoping for a 1-2 day turnaround & hoping they can permanently get rid of the box of rocks.

Have to reschedule, they had no loaners available.

Typically, you have to have an ext warranty to get free loaners, otherwise, they have on-site rentals. I think it was just a goodwill loaner, since it's the 3rd time in for the fix.
Stopped in to reschedule my appt, since they aren't great at getting on the phone. Svc writer handed me keys to a loaner
So far, it's fixed & doesn't rattle. We'll see how it is once the temps swing again.
Tundra moved up to #2 on my list after seeing the 2019 Silverado . But, I'd likely get another F150, without the sunroof this time, if I were to do it again.

Thinking about adding a bed cover to the truck.
Trying to decide between the Peragon & Bak MX4. Both have their downside when opened: The Peragon drops into the front of the bed, so you lose 6-8" of depth & it hangs down something like 10". The MX flips up & blocks the back window when fully open.
Leaning a bit more toward the Peragon, but want to try to find one on a local truck to check out first.

In terms of the two companies...Peragon wins hands down, no doubts, customer service is TOP NOTCH. I was actually speaking with their owner about a combined cover/rack when I traded my truck last year. He's a wonderful guy. I'd gladly support his efforts and give him my money again and again.
For what it's worth, the fit and finish of the Peragon is far superior to the Bak products.

Thanks, that's good to know.
A lady in my office has a Bak F1 on her Silverado & I'm definitely not a fan of the glossy finish, nor that the corners are wider than the cab when it's fully open.
That puts the Peragon a bit ahead of it.
Was looking at the Pace-Edwards Switchblade on my dad's Duramax yesterday. It might be a contender, since the canister doesn't take up much space in the bed.

Hadn't thought of a roller. Not a big fan of how they look retracted, but will give them a browse. The only one that I've for sure ruled out is a solid cover. Just not a fan & they're prohibitively heavy to remove by yourself, plus the amount of space they take to store.

Priced the Bak & Truxedo rollers & they're more $$ than the folders. The MX4, Peragon & Switchblade all seem to run in the high $700 range, the rollers were high 8-900.

Sunroof was 'fixed' at the end of December. Weather has warmed up & it's back to rattling again.
Will be making another appt to have it checked, for the third time. Getting close to lemon law territory on it.
No idea what I'd get to replace it, if it came to that. The few that have me interested, are likely out of budget.
