Although, concurrently...anyone notice that once you do get MARRIED, getting a super $$$ car becomes less important?
Aint that the truth. Wife loved the TL when we were dating. Now that we're married, moving into our first house she wants something more "practical".

I would say it bothers me when I see younger kids in expensive cars weaving in an out of traffic, driving wrecklessly thinking their sh*t doesn't stink. But if they're just driving normally I usually think it must be nice to drive the car like theirs. Although the other thing I just thought about right now, is that alot of times we assume it's their car but we really don't know if it is or if it's their parents/relatives car??

what pisses me off is that one kid at my school drives an STi that his parents bought and had fixed up for him. and he crashed it... twice. and then they fixed it up again for him. he's a shitty driver and doesnt deserve that nice of a car. especially when he doesnt even know how to work on it and he claims he knows everything about it.

I had some Arizona State U kids in a brand new ISF trying to get me to race them a week or two ago. As hard as it is to understand how parents could spend so much money on a kid, or trust them with a 400+ hp car at that age, IMO it is what it is and there's nothing to be jealous about.

The punk kid driving the car doesnt bother me as the rich ass parent who let their kids drive $50k+ cars before theyve learnt how to drive properly

its not jealousy, its pure irritation. the whole shoeboat happens waaaayyyyy too often around here in the Fresno area.

you can ask mike(omgtlkiller) he knows the kid with the viper..he wrecked his old Z06

what really set me off is that i was on the freeway theother day with the gf, and a new M3 convertible, with 4 kids in it, had to be doing a good 130 and came inches from rear eneding me. he was seriously so close to me the draft he made rocked my car

the kids around here have the "im superman" mentality or im "billy badass"

It's not just around your area, kids have poor judgement around the globe, you just become more aware of it as you get a little older.

how do you know what someone else values and doesn value?

i paid for my tl (Still am) and i bought it when i was 17. ill never forget the day someone told me i didnt deserve such a nice car and that mommy and daddy should teach me to value a car by making me pay for one.

when in fact i bought this car and a car for my parents. i could easily be driving an S line or a Bimmer, but my parents needed to get around.

its incompetent pricks like this that assume ppl dont appreciate their belongings, you dont know anyones story.

this is not just directed to you, but everyone in here that says ppl dont deserve nice things because they are young

I used to, then I grew up. The only thing that pisses me off is asshole drivers.

Needless to say, I'm permanently pissed off.

But other than that, I have a wonderful wife, three gorgeous kids, a house, a very nice car, another family car that's totally paid off, and I just got my first HDTV after waiting five years. I appreciate it so much more because I had to wait for it. But that's not anyone else's concern, now is it?

it bothered me when I was in highschool adn kids were showing off with the cars that they drive (most of them were their parent's cars anyways) and acting like they are better then me cuz I was a poor immigrant kid who drove around in a 2000 base corolla. There were asshole like that and I am sure there are kids like that everywhere. Now it just irritates me that I have to watch out for kids like that driving like idiots. And I don't think that an irresponsible kid with a fast new car is good parenting at all.

in H.S. i leased a 00 TL (split with bro) 200 ea. a mo.

most girls had either a new RX or ML. guys had A4s or 3 series. these were specifically bought for them...on fridays, some kids would bring in their parent's cars - SLs, XJs, occasionally you would see a 360 in the senior parking lot (which was paved)some chick brought in a yellow countach...only in Scarsdale...cars were keyed daily too...

guess im used to it. i could understand a wealthy family purchasing a RX or the likes for the safety of their daughter...although if i see a 18 yr old kid driving a 100k+ it makes me sick.

I wouldn't give a crap if the kid drove a nice car, but I always get a little choked when they treat it as if it were a cheap car - i.e. leaving drinks/bags on a $60k+ Porsche.

The other day I was late for my morning appt. for work & had to rush a bit on HWY when there is hardly any traffic (9am Sat. morning) & this red Ferrari zoomed by & I had a lil fun playing catch up back & forth with him ... early 20s & had a blondie in the driver side ...

No jealousy from me though ... always someone out there with a better car than you & that's life ... accept it & move on ...

No, but I don't think I'm as level headed as the others in this thread. I have just grown to really like my old crap. I guess I feel I can enjoy a beat up (totaled in mexico once) 1974 vw thing as much as the kid next to me in a m3.

Then again the vw was given to me by a family member.

Not really. I have a decent car. It gets me from A to B in comfort. If some kid's dad can get him an expensive car, then good for him. Just as long as he doesn't wreck my car, I'm fine with it.

There's rich arrogant punks and poor arrogant punks and I think the OP thinks the rich punks are not as deserving as he, the poor punk. Too bad, so sad.

I think everything is as it should be: rich, successful people pass on their genes to their rich kids who are given every opportunity to be successful. Rich kids are generally healthier, better looking, smarter, etc. than poor kids due to both genetics and environment.

This is called "evolution" folks and is what got us out of the trees and into nice cars.

Yeah im not gonna lie, it is a little annoying to see anybody rockin' shit they probably didn't earn or do anything to deserve. Big cities especially are full of spoiled brats...the kid in the Lambo in Orange County driving like an idiot; the trustafarian hipster "slumming it" in their $3,000 apartment in Soho while they go to NYU (also fully funded by the bank of mommy and daddy...) It's not like it's their fault they're spoiled, but they'd be foolish to think they're impressing any adult in the room into thinking they're anything other than a lucky spoiled brat. One thing that is much harder to buy is other people's respect.

A part of me wishes that I didn't have to pay for my car and that my parents were wealthy enough to buy me whatever I wanted, but then again I'm fortunate that I have my TL, or even a car for that matter. I know quite a few people my age that don't have a car. When I think about it like that, I realize that I'm very spoiled when compared to others not as fortunate, even though I pay for everything I have. Paying for my car makes me proud that I'm not relying on my parents to pay for my things.

Nothing in live is ever fair or guaranteed. You just have to appreciate what you have and realize that no matter what you have, you are better off than somebody else out there.

Just my of course.
