So, i got the 2019 Acura RDX, which is very nice, and my wife loves it too. But, back to the original poll. My neighbor is going to sell his 2018 Mustang GT premium with manual transmission. Or, i now can find a used 2021 TLX with technology and all wheel drive. Down to those two for my second vehicle. I love the RDX, but want a sedan for my daily drive. Mustang 5.0 vs. 2021 TLX used (yes, I can find a rarely used one now).

Mustang. A TLX is slower than an Accord.

Unless you need AWD for snow or rear doors for adults at back(kids fit fine in stang at back) the Mustang is a no brainer.

Then why are we still talking about it?

I will weigh in for your kids and vote for a four door sedan, Charger or TLX. Any time they are along for the ride they will thank you, and they might even be able to see outside. Also while their car seats might fit in the backseat of the Mustang or Camaro, it will be a minor pain to get in and out. Both wrt the kids and the seats themselves. What would make these two respective coupes fun to drive, could make them tiresome as a DD. And I know people who have DD’ed cars worse than those two will come parachuting into this thread to denounce my weakness. There are probably folks who DD a Corvette in northern Michigan. Hitting the gas station more frequently will also become part of your schedule. Of course that will apply to the Charger as well. You got 200k miles out of your TL. Neither the GT or Camaro will last in your garage nearly that long, for myriad reasons. The Charger, maybe? The TLX, far more likely. With the TLX, both of your vehicles would have identical driver interfaces. Wouldn’t be a big deal for me, but my wife would find it very useful. Your requirements for a car are different than any of us, good luck and enjoy what you pick. No buyers remorse!

Thank you Sir. I will be test driving the 2021 TLX type S around July 4th on my vacation. The dealership where I bought my RDX called me and told me they have a demo Type S for me to drive. I doubt I can afford it. But, thank you for your post of wisdom. I just can afford the mustang more than the Acura at this time.

I test drove the TLX with AWD and the Type - S (yes they had a type S demo, and called me since I bought my RDX from them.) The type S was nice but not much nicer than the TLX AWD tech package. I found little difference , the engine sounds no louder, it is very refined. It is faster, but not by too much. The type S will cost $62,000 after being marked up. I no longer have interest in the type S, but really like the TLX AWD. The SH AWD was superb around corners and on/off ramps. The engine is plenty quick enough in Sport mode, and you can disable the damn Idle engine mode in Sport mode. I am considering the TLX SH AWD technology package and leasing it. Black in color with ebony interior.
Unfortunately, my neighbor sold the 2018 Mustang GT for $40,000 when I was on vacation. I love the power of the Dodge Charger, but the TLX is a much nicer car.
