it's a copout excuse.
or put another way; you are making an excuse or justifying your rationale for buying a $32k car.

from the description of your problems; it's only a grand or less to fix the said problems.

If you want a new-ish car, just say so!!
but hiding it behind financial maintenance burdens is silly, because $32k(plus interest, plus fuel for that big ass engine, plus insurance for that muscle car, and maintenance) for the next 5 years+ is way more than $2k a year.

Sure, it's an inconvenience to have the car down for a few days; but it's not like you're the only person that a car inconveniences. it's just what happens when we own vehicles.
I aint hating on your want of a new car! if you have the means, go for it! just dont disguise it, as it's def. cheaper to keep her

also, the Dodge engine has Camshaft wear problems. Be aware! dont shy away from the car, just be aware that the cams like to wear out faster than normal due to a faulty lifter

(which means the car will down for a few days and the engine has to be torn down)

the camshaft wear problem seems to be worse than a bad lifter.

Granted, these are the third gen 5.7l hemi's....the engine in the charger you are looking at is the 4th gen version.
however, if it uses the same block design, it will eventually wipe the cams due to oil starvation

Over 10 years with 2 different models with the 5.7 engine and never an issue with the engines, they are pretty much bullet proof.

@SuperTrooper169 How about you?

Outside of a handful of people who continue to be upset about the price and its lack of power on this forum. Everyone that I've discussed about the topic of this iteration of TLX love it. Most of the negative comments here COME from a few people here I have noticed with a narrative, shame really because in person the car is an improvement in all areas, I test drove it again, in person its hard not to like the car, outside of price which I can understand some unhappiness around that, the car is a winner.

If you like the new TLX, then go buy one. You can't be upset if others don't like the vehicle.

OP, I agree with most, go with the Mustang.

If you need a 4 door, my 2nd pick would be a Stinger GT2

@Sarlacc Zero issues with my motor, now sitting at 115,000 miles. It's been rock solid. The main issues Challengers/Chargers face are front suspension (due to its weight) and the A/C system faulty blend doors.

Update: I test drove a 2020 Camaro SS, unfortunately it was an automatic. I would love to drive the manual 6 speed. I really liked the Camaro, very smooth and comfortable. Very fast. Most comfortable and nicest driving of the Charger, Mustang, I liked the Camaro the best.....No back seat, and little visibilty, but very smooth , very fast nice car! I'd like to add the Camaro SS to the poll.

This is no 4th gen HEMI. The new R/Ts as well as all other trims running HEMIs are all 3rd generation HEMIs. Yes, there have been SOME HEMIs that have eaten up lifters and the cam, but it's not as prevalent as some are making it out to be.

Interesting that you think a Camaro is more comfortable than a Charger. Different strokes for different folks I suppose.

I've driven a new 2021 A-spec and a 2021 G70 3.3T.. The G70 would pull about 8-9 cars easily on the A-Spec straight-line maybe more, to me there is THAT much difference in pick-up. The TLX is nicer quality inside, less stiff and more expensive even at the A-Spec level. The G70 is definitely a notch down as far as interior/ride quality but it's got the kick in the pants "make you smile" oomph. Would love a mix of those two cars at the price of a G70 3.3T but really you just have to decide. Ridiculous power with higher quality over semi-sluggish great luxury. I would definitely suggest anyone looking for another option to check out the G70.

My 2008 Acura now has 202,000 miles, no bluetooth - doesn't work, no navigation screen burnt out. Noise coming from both front axles when turning. Noise from power steering line when turning (after repaired). Worried about 6 1/2 driving trip coming up. Test drove a Dodge Charger 5.7 R/T plus. Almost bought it, and still thinking about it. Comfortable, fast, very nice sounding engine, room for my kids in the back seat. They hated the mustang and camaro when I test drove with them.....

Are you also considering the 392 Hemi? The Scatpack doesn’t cost that much more than the 5.7L but you get a ton more power.

Assuming your Type-S is an automatic model, then moving on to the Charger is a no lose scenario.

Then, in my humble opinion, investing in refreshing the Type-S is the better option.

I might have thought the same, then I had my Durango (coming from a 6spd Challenger) and I loved it...and my wife's Stelvio with the same tranny combo is even better.

Keeping the current one running; based upon the absolute worst case of costs from what you've said, you could essentially refresh your car for say, $5,000.

Change of plans....I got a used 2019 Acura RDX with the 2.0 turbo engine, very nice vehicle. I wanted to stay with Acura, but the type S was no option at this time. Will keep the RDX and be waiting for the type S to find a used one in the next few years....

Thanks, I just traded it in when I bought the 2019 RDX. I didn't get much from the dealer, not like if I sold it privately. I knew that but did not want the trouble to transport it as I bought the vehicle out of state. They will wholesale my Tl-s because it has 203,000 miles on it.....

Thanks Sir, the cloth seats/interior of the charger and the gas mileage, had me leaning toward the RDX. (The whole time I wanted to stay with Acura if I could.)

Quick Reply: Dodge Charger R/T 5.7 L , Mustang GT Premium 5.0, or Wait for 2021 Acura TLX?
